Position Summary:

Beginning June 2021, Excel Sports Management will provide one exceptional individual from an underrepresented group the chance to receive unprecedented access, learning opportunities and work experience into one of the sports industry’s most premier agencies. This is a full-time, paid position that is one-year in length and includes four rotations (3 months each) across different departments within the company.

  3. Marketing [Basketball, Baseball, Golf & Talent]
  4. Operations [Basketball, Baseball & Golf]
  5. Brand Marketing
  6. Properties (Team, League, Esports & Venue Representation)

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties will largely be division-dependent but include:

  • Immersing and integrating into respective departments with day-to-day responsibilities including, but not limited to:
    • Completion of a quarterly project within each department with 1:1 guidance, set deliverables and departmental feedback from the team assigned;
    • Engagement on deliverables with members of the department’s senior leadership team;
    • Operational assistance as needed with client requests, Excel events and hospitality;
    • Research for talent, brand and property clients and potential opportunities as needed by the respective division. This may include pre-meeting brand briefs, prospect lists and/or market/player analysis and recommendations;
    • Sales process support from creation to execution to include activations, brainstorms and platform development;
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • MBA or Graduate Degree in Sports Management/Marketing preferred, or;
  • 1-2 years’ work experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have superior organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to effectively communicate to a wide range of audiences, both written and verbally;
  • Must be able to work effectively, autonomously and collaboratively in a fast- paced, team environment;
  • Must have strong attention to detail;
  • Must have a high level of commitment to delivering quality work products, while keeping in sync with organizational ethics, integrity and compliance;
  • Must be a detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision;
  • Must be extremely proficient in Microsoft Office. Basic proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat Pro is a plus;
  • Must be highly responsive and accessible;
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate uncompromised judgment and discretion regarding interpersonal relationships.
