Job Description: 

As an Accountant with basic bookkeeping duties at CPR1, you will play a crucial role in managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and providing valuable insights to support business decision-making. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices. 

 

Responsibilities: 

Financial Record Keeping: 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks and spreadsheets. 

  • Record daily transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries and other bookkeeping activities.  

  • Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. 

 

Accounts Payable and Receivable: 

  • Process vendor invoices, expense reports, and other payables in a timely manner. 

  • Generate customer invoices and statements and follow up on outstanding receivables as needed. 

  • Contact clients by phone and email regarding accounts receivable and payable questions, providing prompt and professional assistance. 

 

Financial Reporting: 

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. 

  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement. 

  • Present financial reports and insights to management, providing recommendations for strategic decision-making. 

 

Budgeting and Forecasting: 

  • Assist in the development and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts. 

  • Track actual performance against budgeted targets, identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement. 

  • Prepare budget variance analyses and reports to explain deviations and support financial planning efforts. 

 

Tax Compliance: 

  • Collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. 

  • Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax filings. 

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to support tax reporting and audits. 

 

Process Improvement: 

  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and enhance internal controls. 

  • Implement best practices and standards to ensure the integrity and reliability of financial data. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. 

  • CPA certification or progress towards certification preferred. 

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles, preferably in a small business or startup environment. 

  • Proficiency in accounting software QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel. 

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards. 

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. 

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work effectively under pressure. 

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
