Infobase is looking for a skilled and highly motivated Mid-level to Senior Designer to join our digital team. This candidate will work closely with the product development team and support our UX Design Lead. Candidate should have a solid understanding of key design processes, principles, and current trends, and be able to work both collaboratively and independently. The designer’s responsibilities range from maintaining, conceptualizing and improving Infobase’s portfolio of web and software applications serving the educational and library communities. This position will start as a contract with the possibility of becoming full time.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  •  Execute Visual/UX best practices and standards

  • Transform complex problems into beautiful, intuitive and functional designs
  • Enhance existing content and create new features

  • Translate current designs into various responsive interfaces

  • Implement all design stages from product concept to final hand-off to developers
  • Translate user and business requirements into creative and intuitive design solutions through wireframes and defined user flows
  • Have the ability to take design feedback from team members to improve projects
  • Work cross-functionally with Product Owners and Project Managers  
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Build consensus around strategic design choices through research, design reviews and presentations
  • Adhere to and help define brand consistency and visual design system

Skills & Experience: 

  •  3+ years of experience in a UI/UX or Product design role
  • An online portfolio with examples of responsive web design work that has shipped
  •  Solid understanding of typography, color theory, grid-based design, hierarchy and other design principles

  •  Expertise in Sketch, Illustrator, Photoshop, Invision, Zeplin or similar tools
  • Have a working knowledge of responsive design and be familiar with web compliance standards

  • Ability to present your design work and explain design choices to stakeholders
  • Ability to work well in a highly collaborative environment and take direction from team leaders
  • A current portfolio demonstrating strong visual design and user interface work
  • Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Capable of making design choices with and without usability testing
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS, and browser capabilities
  •  Experience with designing mobile interfaces
  •  Great work ethic and sense of ownership
  • Prototyping a plus
