We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Director of Finance at Lalo to lead the finance team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for month end close, quarterly forecasting, and working with all Lalo department stakeholders and, and more. You will work with the CEO on strategic decisions rooted in the financial model to guide Lalo’s future. This person will also prepare financial presentations including to the Board and key stakeholders. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator.. This role reports directly to the CEO

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure full compliance with GAAP, regulatory, and taxation requirements. Ensure integrity in the financial records, safeguarding of assets, and a strong internal control environment.

  • Maintain financial forecasts for the business and track key metrics and variances

  • Work alongside the CEO to update projections periodically

  • Support strategic business decision making through financial modeling and analysis for business and product teams, including ad hoc modeling and analysis

  • Constantly improve accuracy by understanding the underlying business drivers

  • Work cross-functionally to understand the data better, and keep track of key financial data points (Landed Cost, CAC, Inventory Reconciliation)

  • Oversee the monthly close

  • Responsible for Invoicing our Dropship and Retail Partners

  • Assist with the implementation of a budgeting process for team leaders

  • Define and implement best practices for financial management, controls, and reporting

  • Assist in preparation of Board materials (summary outputs, budget vs. actuals, etc.)

  • Enhance and maintain key financial KPIs

  • Manage and hire team of book keepers

Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ years of experience working as a controller, financial planning & analysis, or banking.

  • Experience in a product, retail or D2C business is a plus

  • Proven track record of strong financial and strategic analysis, and delivering recommendations based on this analysis is a plus

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Deep understanding of Accounting practices

  • A self-starter who is able to prioritize and manage multiple assignments, take initiative, and work independently

  • An excellent communicator and collaborator who loves to share findings and actionable insights

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
