DESCRIPTION:

Aspen Neuroscience is seeking to add a new member to our facilities team. The Sr. Technician, Lab Equipment will perform and coordinate all aspects of laboratory equipment maintenance and management in GMP and R&D lab environments. This includes lab equipment induction, installation, calibration, qualification, validation, and preventative and corrective maintenance. The ideal candidate enjoys troubleshooting as a member of a highly collaborative team in a fast-paced growing environment. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Review specifications of new lab equipment
  • Receive and asset tag new lab equipment and perform induction checklist steps
  • Perform and/or coordinate lab equipment installation and calibrations
  • Coordinate lab equipment qualifications and validations
  • Perform and/or coordinate lab equipment troubleshooting, and preventative and corrective maintenance as scheduled and/or requested
  • Perform lab equipment relocations within the lab or cleanroom environment
  • Learn and review all applicable GMP Lab Equipment based SOPs and documents
  • Maintain on site inventory of critical spare parts and consumables
  • Operate and administer lab equipment monitoring system and respond to equipment alarms as needed.
  • Update lab equipment maintenance files and lab equipment database
  • Strictly adhere to EH&S guidelines and policies to ensure safe operation of the equipment and systems.
  • Comply with Good Documentation Practices and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Perform other tasks in the facilities department as needed


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Five years’ experience in lab equipment maintenance in a biopharmaceutical R&D and manufacturing environment
  • High School diploma required. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience working in a GXP regulated environment and completing GMP documentation is desired


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to be on call for some nights and weekends as scheduled by manager.
  • Hands on knowledge of lab equipment consisting of: cold storage equipment, incubators, biological safety cabinets, laminar flow hoods, centrifuges, microscopes, balances
  • Excellent ability to mechanically troubleshoot and repair lab equipment
  • Knowledge and understanding of cleanroom working environment and GMP requirements preferred or willingness to acquire certification.
  • Knowledge of cGMP and cGDP requirements and procedures predisposed to documentation of work performed and maintaining clean work areas.
  • Ability to execute, document, and communicate investigations into facility and/or equipment related issues.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively with other departments and independently when needed.
  • Desire to work in a fast paced, state of the art customized manufacturing facility.
  • Sound knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
  • Knowledgeable in general safety practices.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing projects simultaneously.
  • Must have basic computer skills including competence with Microsoft office.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Reliable and meets all required deadlines

The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in San Diego is $35.00/hr to $54.00/hr.  The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.  Aspen Neuroscience is multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
