Aspen Neuroscience is seeking a technology leader with biotech experience to join the team as Executive Director, Information Technology. Reporting directly to the CFO, the ideal candidate brings creativity and leadership as well as expertise in planning across information technology infrastructure, network, security, applications, operations, and strategy. Aspen is a rapidly growing cell therapy biotech with a highly collaborative and patient-focused culture. This role requires a passion for continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring scalability of technology through cross-functional partnerships.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and provides vision to the IT team in carrying out department responsibilities
  • Develops and implements short-term and long-term strategic plans and vision that support the technology needs and objectives of the organization providing a comprehensive IT roadmap for the organization
  • Evolves an IT governance framework including development and implementation of organizational policies and standards to support operations and standardize IT business processes
  • Drives overall approach to IT compliance and controls that support various regulatory and infrastructure requirements. Advises on risk-mitigation to optimize the security position of the company
  • Manage disaster recovery planning ensuring successful technology enablement and capacity management
  • Reviews, prioritizes, and manages portfolio of projects. Secures external resources that augment and assembles organizational project teams
  • Negotiate, manage, and monitor technology vendor and contractor relationships and agreements to deliver company-wide, outcomes-based specialized services
  • Develops and empowers team capabilities of IT staff and provides leadership and direction to outsourced vendors
  • Establishes and measures departmental metrics and performance delivery
  • Plan and implements a fiscal year departmental budget for prioritized IT technical assistance, capital, and operational expenditure


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer/information science, business administration or related field, or equivalent relevant experience required
  • A minimum of 10+ years of progressive IT experience including senior leadership experience
  • Previous biotech experience required
  • Experience with implementing and improving systems and infrastructures in highly regulated environments
  • Required experience with Microsoft Office 365 (SharePoint, Teams, Power BI)

  • Expert knowledge in a wide variety of core IT functions including data, security, system architecture, networking software, software development and end-user support
  • Expert knowledge in cloud-based enterprise platforms such as ERP, Automation, Data & Analytics, Enterprise Architecture, and broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies
  • Understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements impacting IT programs (e.g. 21 CFR Part 11)
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with a reputation for forming strong business relationships and fostering teamwork and ability to effectively present information to various audiences
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced growth environment with competing priorities and able to recognize and negotiate tradeoffs
  • Excellent critical thinking skills with strong project management skills and success managing multiple priorities in fast-paced and small environment
  • Solid business acumen, including in analyzing data, managing budgets, and measuring results and effectiveness of programs
  • Ability to function at both a strategic and operational levels within the organization.
  • Must be purposeful and demonstrate strategic thinking, innovation, flexibility in dealing with changing and ambiguous situations
