SUMMARY:

Seeking a strong planner and creative thinker to join Aspen Neuroscience as Director of Facilities & Engineering. The ideal candidate enjoys planning for the workplace of the future including considerations for remote workers to optimize technology and space for productivity. This role also ensures all facilities are properly maintained and operational in compliance with all regulatory and safety standards. Collaboration, mentorship, and project management skills are highly desired for this strategic yet hands-on role in a growing biotech.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes and executes strategic plans for future and current site planning, including offices, laboratories, and manufacturing facilities.
  • Facility master planning for site and technology optimization, site density, and employee engagement, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials, and other related costs.
  • Lead the execution of engineering investigations into site modifications and expansions to meet business opportunities and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain site facility and associated documents to ensure effective and compliant execution of work on site. This may also include management of custodial and service technicians and/or outside contractors verifying and updating documentation.
  • Oversees building and grounds maintenance, including operational and custodial functions.
  • Ensures security and emergency preparedness procedures are implemented properly.
  • Coordinates with manufacturing, laboratory operations, and office management to implement and maintain necessary changes to facilities.
  • Ensures that the facility is clean and maintained according to company policy and procedures.
  • Ensures all facilities are compliant with required specifications, regulatory requirements, quality of work and safety standards and all site maintenance is performed in a safe manner with compliance to all cGMP requirements.
  • Implements, maintains, and ensures environmental health and safety policies and procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness and injury prevention and building safety) in partnership with EHS professionals across the organization.
  • Serves on Emergency Response Team and Safety Committee.
  • Conducts periodic facility audits to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Detailed and timely documentation and maintenance of reports as required.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher education in Business or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical) or equivalent training or work experience and related degree.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in pharmaceutical, biologics, or life sciences facilities/engineering role within a GLP/GMP environment.
  • Highly prefer Project Management certification, Green Belt/Black Belt Certification, and Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification or demonstrated project management skills in a growing organization, including construction, remodeling, equipment, and systems implementations.
  • Demonstrated experience participating in site, division, corporate or regulatory audits. Prior experience with EHS related programs would be an asset.
  • Experience in a laboratory environment a plus.

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001.
  • Knowledge of clean room and fire code regulations.

  • Proactivity to stay current on industrial trends, governmental requirements, and health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing projects simultaneously.
