Aspen Neuroscience is seeking an Executive Director of Corporate Communications to guide organizational communications planning, branding and strategy to support the company's mission and objectives. The ideal candidate has public company experience and has a proven track record of partnering with internal leadership for content planning and delivery to ensure timely messaging for internal and external stakeholders, including investors, partners, media, and patient groups. As a senior leader in the organization, this role requires impeccable decision making aligned with our core values of patient-centered, integrity, collaboration, innovation, and performance. This is an on-site role in Torrey Pines, California. Relocation is not available.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage corporate communications, including developing the company's story, branding, and messaging to convey technology, autologous approach, and unique opportunities for neurological disease patients to internal and external audiences, such as the public, investors, policymakers, clinicians, Board members, employees, and patients.
- Determine resources needed to achieve company goals; manage vendors and staff, oversee hiring and retention of temporary or permanent employees.
- Establish and guide the vision, overarching strategy, and execution of strategic brand communications, internal communications, executive communications, media relations, and investor communications. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing a forward-looking communications plan, actively managing the company website, Aspen brand, and all media interactions.
- Develop and maintain crisis communication plans ensuring organizational readiness to effectively handle any crisis while maintaining the company’s reputation and stakeholder trust.
- Partner with various stakeholders to ensure integrated corporate messaging (including systems, plans, interactions, and communication to investors).
- Manage content management systems and libraries, including building, validating, and overseeing the content lifecycle to ensure the information remains current and precise.
- Maintain and update the company website, ensuring that all content is accurate and posted in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain vendor relationships to ensure timely and budget-compliant deliverables for implementing communication plans. Coordinate with external partners to improve online presence and engagement.
- Develop and manage an editorial calendar (News Flow) for both internal and external communications in alignment with human resources and event strategies. Provide training and education as required.
- Implement and uphold corporate communication standards to ensure consistent messaging across the organization, adhering to brand, legal, and compliance guidelines.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of communications and channels (both internal and external), establishing cadence of data review to develop recommendations for improvements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Design, or other related discipline
- Minimum 12 years of progressively increasing professional experience with developing and executing content and communications strategies.
- Experience working in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industries.
- Public company experience required.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in San Diego is $230,000-$275,000 annually. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Aspen Neuroscience is multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
