The Role:

We are seeking a Executive Director, Controller to join our growing team. The Executive Director, Controller is a key leadership position that will be responsible for financial activities including Accounting, Treasury, Tax and Financial Regulatory Compliance. In discharging these responsibilities, the Controller will lead the finance team and company in the financial close, external financial reporting, audit, cash management, procurement and accounts payable, internal control and tax processes. In addition, the Controller will be a key driver in establishing and maintaining the company’s financial systems. The Controller will have 3 direct reports. 

Here Is What You Will Be Doing:

Accounting

  • Preparing and reviewing GAAP financial statements
  • Provide technical accounting support and research for advanced GAAP or SEC topics (may require the oversight of external resources as well).
  • Oversight of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations/reviews and internal control work
  • Partner with FP&A for internal reporting, R&D accruals, budgets, forecasts and special projects

Treasury

  • Oversight of company cash management activities and vendors (including operating banks, investment portfolio managers
  • Oversight of accounts payable and ensuring efficient/timing payments to vendors
  • Active participation in procurement/contracting activities
  • Active participation in capital resource planning including equity and debt activities
  • Manage the company's payroll and stock plan administration
  • Management the company’s risk management/insurance program

Financial Regulatory Compliance

  • Implement and ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures
  • Lead the coordination of independent auditors in the annual audit process
  • Manage 10Q and 10K filings
  • Support other SEC filings, including proxy statements and registration statements

Other

  • Manage financial information systems design, implementation, enhancement and monitoring
  • Recommend benchmark against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Perform special projects; from financial analysis to new system implementation
  • Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings on a timely basis
  • Leader in setting and maintaining financial management calendar supporting company requirements to all stakeholders, internally and externally
  • Advice and support for financing strategy and activities
  • Preparation for and participation in Audit Committee meetings


Here Is What You Will Bring To The Table:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, Master’s a plus
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of financial and management experience
  • 5+ years in biotech or pharmaceutical company industry
  • Prior experience in a public company preferred
  • Prior experience in a growth company preferred
  • Prior experience in a biotech/pharma preferred
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing company preferred
  • Prior experience in a cross functional team environment preferred
