Our growing team is looking for an Integrated Photonics Application Engineer to join the Technology Development team. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop and support customers in new and emerging applications of integrated photonics. This will involve technical problem solving and guiding customers to the most appropriate solutions for their applications. Activities include technical customer support and guidance, project management, and customer relationship development.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with customers to develop integrated photonic solutions with HyperLight’s products and services
  • Customer technical support that requires deep knowledge and understanding of photonic devices
  • Manage multiple customer projects simultaneously, ensuring that they progress according to schedule and meet quality standards
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders across interdisciplinary teams
  • Establish, implement, and continuously improve documentation, processes, and quality systems needed to execute on customer projects
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by providing excellent support and understanding their unique requirements

 

This position requires:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a Photonics related field such as Physics, Optics, Engineering, BioPhotonics, or a related field
  • Understanding of electro-optic modulator, photonics, optics, lasers, fiber, polarization, RF over fiber, and more
  • Working experience with CAD design software (e.g. GDSfactory, IPKISS) or strong python coding skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with detail-oriented documentation
  • Strong interpersonal/organization skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively within and across interdisciplinary teams
  • Passionate to learn new skills

 

This position can benefit from:

  • Experience in semiconductor design environments and understanding of tapeout workflows.
  • Experience with Multi-Project Wafer (MPW) services, process design kit (PDK), and relevant fabrication process knowledge.
