If you are interested in pushing the limits of integrated photonics devices and revolutionizing their applications through hardware innovation, we are looking for you to join HyperLight’s growing team as an Integrated Photonics Design Engineer, where you will work directly with a customer facing team to commercialize state-of-the-art photonics research. At HyperLight, your core responsibilities will be:

·        Spearhead design effort to deliver best-in-class integrated electro-optic devices.

·        Utilize electromagnetic simulations tools to predict and design integrated electro-optic devices.

·        Design and implementation using CAD software.

·        Introduce and iterate new photonic functionalities and circuits in thin-film lithium niobate through close work with a world class customer base including optical communication, sensing, aerospace and quantum systems companies.  

·        Coordinate with the manufacturing team to iterate and translate novel design into products.

·        Communicate and summarize photonics device R&D directly with leadership and all divisions of the company to align company level priorities.

Desired qualification:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, Photonics, or related fields or Minimum of 5+ years of integrated photonics related experience (relevant experience during graduate studies is counted).
  • Demonstrated understanding of electromagnetic theory and related principles.
  • Expert at photonic simulation tools based on FDTD and FEM.
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret experimental data.
  • Experience programming/scripting in Python.
  • Experience building optical measurement setups and performing optical alignment/coupling is a plus.
  • Familiarity working with lasers and high-speed electronics such as fast photodiodes, oscilloscopes, Vector Network Analyzers, and Spectrum Analyzer is a plus.
  • Authorization to work in the US.
