Job Description – Warehouse Person / Inventory Control Specialist


Summary Objective

The Field & Warehouse Person / Inventory Control Specialist is a dual-purpose role. Responsibilities include planning and organizing daily warehouse operations and activities, including the receipt of material, documentation, storage, safety, and distribution of equipment and supplies, and maintenance of inventory.  Includes visits to project sites to coordinate deliveries, validate and quantify inventory and report and resolve discrepancies.

Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to travel with own vehicle and must have a clean driving record
  • Interpersonal skills using professionalism, patience, and courtesy
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  •         Excellent computer skills (MS Office/Excel/Outlook/Adobe Acrobat Pro)
  •         Strong organizational and scheduling skills
  • Warehouse & inventory control experience a plus
  •         High School Diploma or G.E. D
  •         Must be 21 years of age or older
  •         DMV and criminal background check (Required)
  •         English speaking



Competencies:

·        Experience with warehouse operations and construction dock operations a plus

·        Experience with material handling equipment desired (i.e. moving pallets)

·        Ability to follow safety rules and regulations a must

·        OSHA certification a plus

·        Oral and written communication proficiency


Job Responsibilities (essential functions)

Warehouse Person (at company warehouse located in Jamaica, NY):

  • Load, unload, and stage freight for truck deliveries
  • Prepare orders to be picked up by either customers or trucking companies
  • Receive and inspect all incoming orders, visually inspect and photograph boxes and parts, and compare and document with Weltmann Lighting purchase orders
  • Plan, organize, daily warehouse operation and activities
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of records and logs and prepare reports as required
  • Track shipments and resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Compliance with company designated attire

Inventory Control Specialist (on construction sites located in the Tri-State area):

  • Travel to designated construction sites and meet with construction personnel to facilitate the receipt of lighting purchases ensuring the accuracy of the shipment
  • Inspect material and confirm the correct material part numbers, condition, and quantity
  • Take photographs of material delivered and document per company procedures
  • Report any issues or discrepancies to the Operations and Logistics team
  • Coordinate and maintain all daily job site delivery schedules
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel & Word to prepare necessary documents
  • Perform other scheduled inventory counts at various construction sites and warehouses
  • Travel to various locations in the local metro NY and NJ area
  • Lift, move, sort and store objects
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

 

Work Environment

This job operates in both a professional office environment as well as jobsite and warehouse locations.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  While in the field, the role uses protective equipment including hard-hat, gloves, safety vest and safety goggles which are supplied by Weltmann Lighting. The noise level in the office environment is usually quiet while the  noise level in the jobsite & warehouse environment can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job in the office, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active while on the jobsite and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move heavy items over 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday (7:00am – 4:00pm).  Overtime, evening, and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel is expected for this position for job-site meetings, job-site delivery inspections and warehouse visits including inventory, professional growth classes and occasional events in NYC or Long Island.
