Job Summary

Ashvattha Therapeutics, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company located in Redwood City, is seeking a motivated Associate Scientist or Scientist, Analytical Development. Ashvattha Therapeutics is focused on developing novel nanomedicines, HD therapeutics (HDTs), to treat unmet medical needs in ophthalmology, neurology, inflammatory diseases, and neuro-oncology. Our HD platform builds therapeutics that are selectively taken up only by inflamed tissues, allowing us to treat diseases with unprecedented precision.

This position reports to the Director, Analytical Development and will develop analytical methods and test various drug substances/drug product to support various programs in ophthalmology, neurology, inflammatory diseases, and neuro-oncology.  The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic, interdisciplinary team and require a high degree of creativity and initiative. This is an exciting opportunity to help drive the development of novel therapies for unmet medical needs in multiple indications. 

The Position

The Sr. Scientist I/II will serve as a key member of our development team, working on-site full-time, in our Redwood City laboratory, focusing on novel early and late-phase programs. Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Design and develop analytical methods especially HPLC methods
  • Test various drug substance/drug product samples
  • Manage, set up and maintain all equipment in the analytical lab
  • Keep and accurate and detailed electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Perform tasks per protocols and develop new protocols as needed
  • Additional responsibilities may be added as required

 

Who You Are

  • Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or closely related scientific area is required along with a minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • In-depth expertise with analytical method development 
  • Expertise in HPLC, HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS, ICP-MS, SEC-MALS and NMR analytical techniques is preferred.
  • Prior experience with analytical method development and various tests for small molecule drugs. 
  • Experience with analytical method development and various tests for polymer-drug conjugates drug candidates is a plus.
  • Independent, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Technical writing experience such as protocols, reports, and SOPs.
  • Ability to communicate scientific findings and recommendations in one-on-one discussions, departmental meetings, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple projects and priorities.
  • Must be able to work on site at our Redwood City facility, five days per week.

We have a comprehensive total compensation package including fully paid medical, dental and vision benefits for you and your family.  We want our employees to become shareholders and offer new hire stock options.  The company also offers participation in the annual bonus program.  The salary range for PhD candidates located in the Bay Area is $120,000 - $160,000 depending on years of experience and relevant skill sets. Non-PhD's may be considered for this role, although job title and compensation will be adjusted based on degree and relevant experience.
