The Company

Ashvattha Therapeutics Inc is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing products for the unmet medical needs utilizing a novel nanomedicine technology exclusively licensed from Johns Hopkins University. We are currently looking for outstanding individuals to join our team and contribute to our rapidly expanding portfolio of therapeutic products. We have product candidates in neurology, ophthalmology, and inflammation indications.

The Position

This person will be responsible for the design, execution, and interpretation of in vitro experiments to support Ashvattha's preclinical pipeline. They will develop and perform plate-based assays and work with multiple mouse and human cell lines to investigate target engagement and disease-relevant pathways in in vitro cell culture systems. Focus will be on developing microglial and macrophage cell-based assays to characterize dose response and investigate mechanism of action of Ashvattha hydroxy-dendrimer therapeutics in a broad range of inflammatory diseases including but not limited to, neurological, ophthalmological, and immunological indications. The candidate will utilize techniques such as ELISA, Western blotting, qRT-PCR, immunoprecipitation, immunocytochemistry and microscopy, and flow cytometry to interrogate endpoints from cellular assays.

Within the first year, this person will successfully develop and execute at least 3 new cell-based assays to test potency and efficacy of Ashvattha HDT's in target engagement and disease-relevant translational assays. They will work closely with other members of the Translational team to screen candidates in the therapeutic pipeline from Chemistry through to nomination for development.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Neuroscience, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant laboratory experience.  
  • The candidate must have cell culture experience with human or mouse cell lines.
  • Experience in at least 2 of the following techniques:  ELISA, Western blotting, qRT-PCR, immunoprecipitation, immunocytochemistry and microscopy, and flow cytometry is required.
  • They must have the ability to read and interpret scientific literature and be able to execute cellular and biochemical assays with some supervision.
  • The candidate should exhibit exemplary communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within and across functions at a small company.

We have a comprehensive total compensation package including fully paid medical, dental and vision benefits for you and your family.  We want all of our employees to become shareholders and offer new hire stock options.  The company also offers participation in the annual bonus program.  The salary range for candidates located in the Bay Area is $70,000 - $95,000 depending on skills and experience.
