Ashvattha Therapeutics Inc is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing products for the unmet medical needs utilizing a novel nanomedicine technology exclusively licensed from Johns Hopkins University. We are currently looking for outstanding individuals to join our research and development team and contribute to our rapidly expanding portfolio of therapeutic products. We have product candidates in neurology, ophthalmology, and inflammation indications.
The Position
We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated science and people leader with a strong background and experience in synthetic, medicinal or process chemistry for the development of hydroxyl dendrimer therapeutics (HDTs) for a wide range of therapeutic areas. The main responsibilities of this position are to manage our existing early-stage research team in Redwood City to perform small scale manufacturing of our HDTs and work with Process Sciences and Manufacturing to transfer the manufacturing processes to Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) for GMP production to support clinical studies. The candidate will be both “hands on” in laboratory work as well as hire a team to produce small scale lots of HDTs. Candidate will also manage an external team at CRO to facilitate small molecule-linker library generation. This is a full-time, on site position located at our Redwood City facility.
Job Requirements
PhD with a minimum of 12 years of related experience and a minimum of 5 years in a leadership position.
Must have scientific expertise along with a passion for leading and building a team.
The candidate will have demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams (chemistry, translational, manufacturing, analytical) in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company.
Candidate will also have conducted process transfers to CMOs and actively led process development work on small molecule therapeutics directly or through CMO.
Experience in synthesis of drug candidates and, preferably, drug conjugates including polymer drug conjugates and antibody drug conjugates
Hands-on experience with synthesis techniques including use of microwave reactors, rotary evaporators, freeze dryers, and tangential flow filtration systems.
Optimization of lead candidate HDT’s
Ability to write synthesis methods and process reports
Assist in troubleshooting and optimizing chemical processes
Design and synthesize HDTs at sufficient scale to support preclinical studies

Ashvattha offers a competitive total compensation package, including fully paid medical, dental, vision for employees and their families. The expected base salary range for the Director of Chemistry is $185,000 - $225,000 Individual compensation is based on various factors including experience, education, skillset. The company also provides an annual bonus program and Pre-IPO stock options.
