Ashvattha Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel hydroxyl dendrimer (HD) therapeutics (HDTs) to treat unmet medical needs in oncology, ophthalmology, and inflammatory diseases. The Role


We are seeking a Head of Translational Research (Sr. Director level) to build and operationalize strategies to support clinical development. The Individual will be responsible for designing and executing the preclinical proof of concept studies of existing compounds in our portfolio, evaluating new product and indications opportunities, and identifying new potential drug targets. This position will work across research and development groups, collaborating with clinical, non-clinical and research scientists to ensure early definition of clinical development strategy based upon translation from preclinical models. The candidate will be a key part of the team that provides strategic, technical and scientific leadership for development, implementation and data interpretation of an integrated translational research strategy for the Company's programs. Depending upon the candidate, the role will also include oversight of nonclinical development studies including toxicology, pharmacology and pharmacokinetics.


Key Deliverables


Lead efforts on new product (1) approved by the Board in 2022 to complete nonclinical work to support pre-IND submission in Q4, Lead efforts on preclinical proof of concept on current lead compounds to enable nomination of new product (2) by end of year;; - Develop with clinical and commercial a development strategy and clinical protocol for translation of the preclinical results on new product (1) in collaboration with Executive Team in Q4; - Work with CMO to propose new indication(s) for OP-101 and prepare for FDA meeting in Q4; - Collaborate with Business Development to support in-license and out-license opportunities


Skills and Experience


PhD in a related discipline.  Proven experience conducting preclinical studies to support drug development; Ability to manage external CROs and academic collaborators to achieve results in timely manner; Knowledge of relationship between preclinical models and human disease to enable optimum preclinical and clinical study designs; Ability to build and manage high performing team; Experience collaborating closely with research and development functions; Successful management of external collaborations with academic institutions; Expertise in inflammation and/or immunology research is preferred.



Compensation


Ashvattha provides a competitive compensation package including 100% employer paid health insurance premiums for employees and their families, along with equity and an annual cash bonus program. Posted salary range is for employees located in the San Francisco Bay Area only.  



Candidates must be able to work on site in Redwood City a minimum of 2 days per week.
