Accountant II / Senior Accountant
Ashvattha Therapeutics, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company located in Redwood City, is seeking an Accountant II / Senior Accountant Ashvattha Therapeutics is focused on developing novel nanomedicines, HD therapeutics (HDTs), to treat unmet medical needs in ophthalmology, neurology, inflammatory diseases, and neuro-oncology. Our HD platform builds therapeutics that are selectively taken up only by inflamed tissues, allowing us to treat diseases with unprecedented precision.
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. You will play a key role in managing critical financial processes such as accounts payable, purchasing, and general accounting. Duties and Responsibilities - Essential Functions
Accounts Payable and Purchasing
- Process, record, and reconcile vendor invoices in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Collaborate with vendors to resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate accounts payable records.
- Prepare and process payments (e.g., checks, ACH transfers, credit card transactions) according to company procedures.
- Maintain purchase order and contract records for accounting and auditing purposes.
- Monitor purchasing activities to ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
General Accounting
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain and update financial records in compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in preparing financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual), and support budget preparation and forecasting activities.
- Assist with payroll processing, ensuring accuracy in reporting and compliance with company policies.
- Safeguard the confidentiality of financial data and sensitive information.
- Stay current with updates to accounting standards, tax laws, and industry best practices to ensure compliance.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance and five years of experience working at a life science company.
- CPA preferred, or actively working toward certification.
- Proven experience in accounts payable, purchasing, and general accounting functions, with experience in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Sage, NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle) and financial management software (e.g., Bill.com)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP, tax laws, and financial regulations.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to spot discrepancies and ensure financial accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
- Strong interest in continuing to learn and grow knowledge and expertise.
- Must be able to work on-site a minimum of 3 days per week at our Redwood City, CA office, with flexibility to work required hours (on and off site) during quarter-end and year-end closing periods

We have a comprehensive total compensation package including fully paid medical, dental and vision benefits for you and your family. We want all of our employees to have the opportunity to become shareholders and offer new hire stock options. The Company also offers participation in the annual bonus program. The salary range for this position is $100,000 – $115,000 annually. We consider various factors when determining the base compensation, including market survey data, experience, qualifications, and geographic location, which means that the actual compensation may vary.
