JOB PURPOSE
LEAP is seeking a Program Coordinator who will play a critical role in overseeing an arts integrated, after school program in a New York City public school. He or She will be highly organized, self-motivated, and a creative problem-solver that will ensure quality program execution. The program coordinator will ensure quality arts programs through the management of program planning, lesson planning, and fidelity to the LEAP instructional model. Observation of group leaders, activity specialists, teaching artists, etc. as well as providing thoughtful constructive feedback is a critical aspect of the role. An arts educator and administrator, the program coordinator reports to the managing director, collaborates with school leadership (Principal, AP, etc.), and receives support from other educational and administrative staff at LEAP. A successful coordinator will have the ability to effectively manage their time and work collaboratively to achieve LEAP’s mission and values.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Manage the day-to-day operations of the program

Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of afterschool program participants by providing appropriate supervision at all times. Understand, maintain, and ensure that participants follow Risk Management and safety procedures.

Work cooperatively with school leadership (Principals, APs, etc.) and LEAP staff/departments (Managing Director, Program Ops Team, Finance Team, etc.) to assess school needs, evaluate budget, plan programming, share evaluation tools, and oversee quality delivery

Work with staff to plan and implement meaningful activities, lesson plans, and special/culminating events that build the level of skill and confidence, are age-appropriate, exciting, challenging, and values based in the areas of arts, STEM, SEL, creative expression, community service, leadership, civic engagement, physical fitness, and/or nutrition

Supervise Group Leaders, Activity Specialists, and Teaching Artists by monitoring performance, providing support, coaching, and recognition, and holding staff accountable for performance expectations

Maintain accurate program records (participant files, staff files, data entry, incident/accident/behavior reports, attendance & sign-in/sign-out sheets, and licensing requirements)

Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians by regularly communicating about their child’s strengths and areas for growth

Attend and actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events, when necessary

Monitor and update all required staff training attendance and certifications. Support the development and facilitation of all required training sessions

Ensure that supplies and equipment are available and kept safe

Report all incidents in accordance with LEAP’s policies and procedures.

Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all participants and staff

Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, including helping to compile program statistics.

Adhere to all Department of Health, Department of Education, DYCD, and LEAP standards, expectations, and regulations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree or higher
-
Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience working in an after-school environment and/or arts education

Passion for inclusion and advocacy in the arts

Clear and confident writer able to communicate results so that they are actionable

A quick learner, with an open-minded perspective

A problem solver with a positive attitude and excellent relationship management skills

A self-starter: someone who is highly effective working independently and within a team

Excellent project and process coordination skills, writing skills, and attention to detail

Proficiency with the complete Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms)

Ability to enter data into an online system

Ability to speak Spanish preferred, but not required

Excellent organization skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated involvement with and commitment to the youth community

Not required but a plus: Strong working knowledge and experience using Salesforce, Zoom, Slack, and Asana
