Who is Aztalan Bio?
Aztalan’s story is just beginning, and you can be part of it! ClonBio Group acquired Wisconsin’s largest ethanol plant in 2022 located in the village of Aztalan, just outside Jefferson, WI. The facility will process 40 million bushels of locally grown feed corn per year, turning that into food-grade corn oil, vegetable protein concentrates and isolates for food applications, aquaculture feeds, renewable natural gas, organic fertilizer, ethanol, and dietary fiber for foods, among other things.
Position Overview
The Float Production Shift Supervisor at Aztalan is responsible for the overall production operations of their assigned area and shift. Maintains smooth production and eliminates immediate issues, by making first line decisions, by monitoring production performance and by monitoring activities happening at the area. Initiates and follows up actions to eliminate abnormal states as situational problem-solving. Develops and evaluates the performance and capabilities of production operating staff. Ensures and maintains a healthy and safe working environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises process operators on a 24-hour rotating shift to maintain safety while meeting production goals.
- Assumes the responsibilities of other Production Shift Supervisors during their absence, ensuring continuity of operations and support across all shifts.
- Facilitates training for new and existing production operators, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
- Review and update standard operating procedures regularly and develop new SOPs to enhance operational efficiency and ensure compliance with best practices.
- Communicate regularly with all process operators, both individually and as a group, to ensure consistent operation among the shifts.
- Provide expectations and parameters to lead operators for plant production
- Inspects plant via a standard, scheduled walk-about to identify problems, observe work performance, and reinforce safety standards.
- Ensure the finished products are consistently produced at a high-quality level and are compliant with company and industry standards.
- Understand and interpret QA/QC results and instruct leads to take appropriate action when required.
- Works on specific tasks assigned as part of problem-solving process including collecting data, performing tests and experiments, developing options, evaluates tests and solutions.
- Maintain and update operating procedures and training manuals for process operations. Ensure that all process operators are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures.
- Makes decisions on production issues that fall outside of lead operators or would be not a generally acknowledged practice.
- Approves and follows up servicing, maintenance, or other work requiring lockout tagout activities. Issues lockout tagout permits, raise the awareness of health and safety issues and monitors adherence to lockout tagout and safety procedures
- Assist with hiring of plant personnel.
- Observe and evaluate production employees’ performance and capabilities, provide training and direction to perform tasks, and provide feedback to the production manager. Provide timely feedback and coaching to individuals and teams to safely achieve goals and develop them to their full potential.
- Conduct regular, timely reviews and yearly performance reviews for all direct reports and ensure timely review of hourly personnel.
- Promote and encourage safe working practices.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Three years’ experience in the operation of an ethanol plant, chemical plant, or refinery.
- Experience in a management and/or supervisory role
- Working experience with industries using process equipment, process control, and SCADA
- Knowledge of OSHA and other environmental regulations.
- Working knowledge of computers including MS Office, and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal skills will be required to communicate with employees and other departments.

Pay Range: $34 + per hour depending on experience.
Schedule: Regular schedule would be a 2-2-3 rotation. Spending six weeks on days and six weeks on nights.
