Utilizing this groundbreaking technology, the Hound® marijuana breathalyzer is the world’s first breathalyzer to rapidly, accurately, and inexpensively measure recent marijuana use and alcohol in a person’s breath. Founded in 2014, the Oakland-based company was created by Dr. Mike Lynn, an ER physician, reserve deputy sheriff, and former venture capitalist, his co-founder, Mr. Kuni Oh, a patent attorney with a deep background in engineering and science, and his co-founder, Ms. Jenny Lynn, a business executive with twenty years of experience launching new ventures. Benchmark, Icon Ventures, Intrinsic Capital Partners, Main Street Advisors, NFP Ventures, and individual investors have funded the Company.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Technical Product Director will be based in Oakland, CA. As a Technical Product Director, you are responsible for the success of implementation of our customer projects. This role will work with cross functional teams to design, build, and deliver new products. This position will apply experience in writing technical product specifications while leading the development of new products from idea to market launch. In addition, this role will be the main partner to business development to understand customer requirements and define the most effective method to approach new opportunities globally. This role is ideal for someone who has a technical background and enjoys being “hands on”.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Define and drive full life cycle product and service development
• Develop and execute an early product strategy focused on enabling production and product quality that leverages third parties for: supply chain, manufacturing, logistics and delivery services of our Product portfolio
• Lead cross-team initiatives, work closely with product, engineering and data science teams in highly data driven manner
• Perform long range cost and quality performance planning, assist in developing and maintaining financial, unit forecasting, and pricing models
• Provide coaching and guidance on job performance and career development to direct reports; builds and directs talent-building and development objectives for the organization; builds a culture of continuous improvement
• Perform quality and user testing including test strategy documentation, test case preparation, test execution and test results documentation
• Work with project management to participate in agile working teams to ensure seamless timely delivery of products
• Ensure all processes are fully met in line with company guidelines and support, compliance reviews, testing and audits
• Develop, manage, and maintain positive relationships with business partners, vendors and consultants to address support and project activities
QUALIFICATIONS
• BA/BS in engineering, chemistry, physics or related discipline is required
• Masters or PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5 years of industrial experience is preferred
• 10+ years’ experience within the Product Management field with responsibility for product identification and lifecycle management with particular emphasis on technical product innovation from inception to product launch. Medical device experience strongly preferred
• Proven track record of setting product vision and translating vision into product roadmap and end-to-end execution
• Experience defining product requirements and working with R&D to ensure development of products based on customer and business requirements
• Experience managing multiple projects in a deadline driven environment given potential for rapidly changing priorities
• Deep understanding of key Product Lifecycle Management concepts with the ability to explain this effectively to management or multi-functional teams
• Experience bringing new biotech products to market
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-discipline team
• Must have technical experience
• Startup experience is preferred
