About the Role:
Hound Labs seeks an experienced Engineering Project Manager to play a critical role on our team as we create leading edge diagnostic systems and applications. The Engineering Project Manager will work with our external development partners while simultaneously building Hound Labs’ internal engineering capabilities. The successful candidate will have extensive experience leading the development and qualification of instrumentation systems, including managing the elements of a structured development process. In addition, the Engineering Project Manager will be required to marry their deep project management skills with technical know-how to coordinate and manage design requirements, specifications, and risk analyses.
The Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include:
● Develop and manage milestone schedules and ensure deliverables are being executed according to the published timeline
● Manage project-related expense budget
● Develop and manage project resource plan (internal and external)
● Facilitate effective decision making and issue resolution
● Drive corrective action as necessary to keep the project on track and escalate as needed
● Provide effective project leadership and communication
● Represent project to relevant governance committees, both internal and external
● Facilitate seamless communication between multiple external development partners
● Identify, manage, and communicate program risks
● Manage process for system and subsystem requirements, including management of traceability
● Facilitate Risk Management process according to ISO 14971
● Manage design control process and documentation
● Contribute to development and support of FDA compliant development processes
Basic Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline
● 7 Years professional experience developing instrumentation systems in a project or program management role
● Expert knowledge of project management systems, such as Microsoft Project or Smartsheets
● Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office tools for financial analysis, project summaries, and report generation
● Excellent communication skills, and comfort working with C-Suite stakeholders/executives
● Proficiency with relevant systems engineering methods (requirements management, design control, risk management according to ISO 14971)
● Project leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications:
● Advanced degree in a relevant engineering discipline
● Experience developing medical devices or IVD systems
● PMP Certification
Primary Work Location: Newark, CA, with regular travel to Hound Labs HQ in Oakland, CA
