ABOUT THE ROLE
The ideal candidate will be responsible for timely and accurate preparation of financial accounting data in a variety of areas. It is essential that this candidate brings analytical and organizational skills in order to best support the accounting team. The Staff Accountant will prepare, analyze, and maintain the firms financial records. Staff Accountants are responsible for executing a variety of financial procedures, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, billing, bookkeeping, and general ledger entries.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with the department heads to understand and ensure accuracy of all financial reporting activity
- Assist in preparation and distribution of financial statements
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule
- Utilize QuickBooks accounting software for the following:
- Enter accounting transactions
- Ensure transactions are recorded correctly (GAAP)
- Maintain accounting records/data
- Create, review, and analyze financial statements
- Inspect account books for accuracy
- Organize and update financial records
- Perform monthly bank reconciliation
- Prepare documentation for external auditors
- Prepare and maintain operational procedures
- Discretionary services
- Backup to Senior Accountant for entering transactions in QuickBooks
- Send general ledger to Discretionary Operations Team
- Support for the Custody Exam
- Review expenses
- Perform special projects and all other duties as assigned
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Economics, or Finance
- 2 years' or more Accounting experience, preferably including financial statements
- Working knowledge of Excel required.
- Familiar with tax laws and financial reporting standards
