Essential Functions

  • Support, initiate, deploy, and sign off process improvement and efficiency improvement modifications to manufacturing systems at all AWIP panel sites
  • Build a Divisional Projects team to include Mechanical & Automation engineers.
  • Develop the Apprentice Programs to ensure succession planning for both Divisional and local plant.
  • Ensure Divisional Engineers are brought through a detailed training program. Potential to use Global Engineering as a training ground.
  • Ensure Global Engineering Documentation standards are used for projects relating to Equipment maintenance, Equipment upgrade / New Equipment
  • Build the Maintenance Teams at each manufacturing facility to ensure compliance with Shift patterns, H&S, and Planned and Non-Planned work requirements.
  • Implement a Maintenance Team Training program at each manufacturing facility
  • Ensure a ‘high-level Technician pool’ with the capability to diagnose & resolve out-of-tolerance product/equipment
  • Involvement with setting & reviewing yearly KPI targets for the Plant Maintenance Teams.
  • Ensure implementation of SHIRE CMMS across all manufacturing facility
  • All Plant PM’s must be added to and controlled through the CMMS system
  • A Plant PM schedule must be implemented and followed accordingly.
  • Completed PM’s must have completion work details added to the PM to show work carried out and parts used.
  • Regulatory auditing of each plant will include a review of the plant CMMS system and compliance to the historical maintenance carried out.
  • Daily / Weekly work orders should be added to and managed through the CMMS system
  • Construct an AWIP ‘SharePoint for Engineering’
  •  Implement a system to ensure ALL critical equipment is performing within tolerance.
  • Rolling mill outfeed steel internal & external width auto measurement
  • Laminator post measurement – foam, internal & external steel width auto measurement.
  • Ownership for the Maintenance Overhead budgets
  • Responsible for constant compliance to all aspects of Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Completes training by supervisor.
  • Complies with all safety and company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all plant employees and build effective solutions
  • Organizational and writing skills that will enable him/her to organize, record, conduct and complete multi-faceted long-term projects
  • Good people skills are needed to work successfully with Division Staff, Suppliers, Sales Forces, and Customers.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • At least 5 years in project management/engineering with production management experience.
  • At least 5 years combined experience in plant maintenance and engineering; minimum of 5 years in a supervisory capacity
  •  Professional Engineer (PE) license would be a plus.
  • Manufacturing/plant experience and/or experience in other related functions.
  • Familiarity with Company practices related to EHS, Quality and plant financials

Physical Requirements

  • Able to wear prescribed personal protective equipment and appropriate clothing.
  •  Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Effectively read, write, speak, and communicate in English fluently.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to walk, bend, climb, crouch, lean, reach, and other physical movements as required to effectively and efficiently perform duties.
  • Work in conditions typical of a manufacturing environment, including noise, extreme temperatures and humidity, odors, dust, etc.
  • Effectively use a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, as well as commonly used equipment and software to complete necessary functions.
  • Finger dexterity, visual acuity, discernment of sounds, color, and texture.
  • Must be able to use tools, equipment, machinery, etc.
  • Must be reliable and dependable.
  • Must have the physical and mental ability to drive a standard forklift successfully. AWIP will certify.
  • Must have omnidirectional spatial awareness necessary to operate CombiLift forklift.
  • The ability to travel by automobile, airplane, and other modes of economy-class public transportation are required.

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high-noise environments, chemicals used in the process, and extreme temperatures. The facility is an industrial manufacturing plant.
