Position Summary 

Operate machinery to supply the Foaming station with correct and properly roll formed metal to maintain continuous quality production of insulated metal panels.  

Essential Functions 
Understand and demonstrate:  
•    Panel and profile identification  
•    Verification of scheduled production run against the BOM  
•    QC standards of the Foaming station  
•    QC Log entry  
•    Startup and shut down procedures.  
•    Changeover procedures 
•    Manual/remote control vs. automatic operations  
•    Care and cleaning of equipment  
•    Change over procedures, tooling and guide setup.  
•    Equipment adjustments to correct product defects  
•    Programming of jobs according to the Packing List  
•    Parameter entry and screen navigation  
•    Conveyor and cooling rack buffer management  
•    Factory caulking setup and operation.  
•    Calculated cut procedures  
•    Cutback removal procedure 
•    Panel defect identification and scrap procedures  
•  “Seconds” panel identification and procedures  

Packaging standards

•    Use of tape measure  
•    Math using US standard and metric system.   
•    Inventory procedures.  
•    Effectively communicate with other stations.  
•    Continually monitor the product throughout the production run and ensure Quality and Product Compliance Requirements are met. 
•    Notify QC and Foreman of any product issues immediately.  
•    Continually monitor production equipment.  
•    Notify Maintenance and Foreman of any equipment issues immediately.  
•    Ensure the area is organized and clean.  
•    Complete and maintain forklift certification.  
•    Complete training by Lead Operator/Foreman/Supervisor. 
•    Complies with all safety and company policies and procedures. 
•    Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•    Know how to run machines, load packaging onto machine. 
•    Calibrate scales, troubleshoot problems. 
•    Know how to perform routine maintenance tasks. 
•    Knowledge of safety rules, correct machine operation, common sense. 
•    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
•    Carpentry or Construction. 
•    Able to multitask.  
•    Good communication skills  

Education and Experience

•    Ability to read and comprehend load sheets and material safety data sheets (MSDS). 
•    Must be able to safely drive a forklift. 
•    High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). 
•    Must have a good attitude and work ethic and be dependable. 
•    Must have mathematic proficiency to include arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), as well as adding and subtracting fractions.  
•    Must have the ability to accurately use a tape measure.  
•    Must be proficient with the metric measurement system.  
•    Must have a high level of attention to detail. 

Physical Requirements  

•    Ability to work up to 12 hours per day. Hours, days and shifts depend on the production schedule, and are not guaranteed.   
•    Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, crouch, lean, reach, twist, and other physical movements for extended periods of time.  
•    Ability to work in conditions typical of a manufacturing environment as indicated below under “Working Environment”.  
•    Ability to wear prescribed personal protective equipment and appropriate clothing.  
•    Ability to lift 50 lbs.   Ability to read, write, type, and verbally communicate fluently in English.  
•    Must be able to effectively use a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and commonly used software to complete necessary functions assigned.  
•    Must have finger dexterity, visual acuity, discernment of sounds, color, and texture.  
•    Must be able to use tools, equipment, machinery, etc.  
•    Must be reliable and dependable.  
•    Must have the physical and mental ability to drive a standard forklift successfully. AWIP will certify.   

 

Working Environment 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise environments, chemicals used in the process, and extreme temperatures. The facility is an industrial manufacturing plant. This position is designated safety sensitive.
