Position Summary

The Product Development Coordinator will play a key role in driving innovation within the company. This position involves overseeing the entire lifecycle of new product development projects, from conceptualization to market launch. The individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, commercial, marketing, operations and supply chain, to ensure successful on-time execution of projects that align with the company's strategic goals and market demands.

Essential Functions

Team Leadership:

  • Provide clear direction and leadership to cross-functional teams involved in the product development process.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, promoting open communication and knowledge sharing.
  • Motivate and inspire team members to achieve project goals and milestones.

Project Oversight:

  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation using stage gate process.
  • Conduct regular project reviews to ensure adherence to timelines and budgetary constraints.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing proactive solutions to keep projects on track and including Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and Key Performance Indicators

Collaboration and Integration:

  • Facilitate seamless collaboration between design, engineering, commercial, marketing, operations, and supply chain teams.
  • Ensure integration of diverse perspectives and expertise to drive comprehensive and successful product development.
  • Oversee the integration of market insights and customer feedback into the product development process.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather input, align objectives, and address concerns.
  • Communicate project status, updates, and key milestones to stakeholders, ensuring transparency.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, suppliers, and customers.

Performance Metrics and Reporting:

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for product development projects.
  • Develop and deliver regular reports on project progress, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to evaluate project performance against established benchmarks.

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Analyze market trends, customer preferences, and regulatory requirements to inform product development strategies.
  • Use market insights to guide decision-making throughout the product development lifecycle.

Supervisory Responsibilities

While the position does not have any direct reports, the position is responsible for managing cross-functional teams and stakeholders in a matrix structure.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth understanding of construction materials, including technical and operational aspects
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in presentations, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to align product development efforts with business objectives.
  • Familiarity with market trends, customer preferences, and regulatory requirements in the building materials industry.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills to address challenges and changes during the product development lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and environmental considerations in building materials innovation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, material science, or related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in project management in the building materials, construction or related fields.
  • Experience in commercial and residential wall and roof, solar panels a plus.
  • PMP certification is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully managing cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
  • Familiarity with stage-gate product development processes.
  • Experience in bringing new products to market, including product launch strategies and commercialization.
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint primarily). 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work the core hours of 8am- 5pm Monday thru Friday with the flexibility to work as required to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to regularly work in conditions typical of an office environment, and occasionally work in conditions typical of a manufacturing environment, including noise, extreme temperatures and humidity, odors, dust, etc.
  • Ability to wear prescribed personal protective equipment and appropriate clothing.
  • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate fluently in English.
  • Ability to interact effectively and with clients, contractors, employees, and other individuals.
  • Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time and consistently produce accurate work product, organized thoughts, and execute sound judgment.
  • Must be reliable and dependable.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. 
  • Ability to travel as required by company.
