The Shipping and Receiving Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all activities within the shipping and receiving department. This role ensures the timely, accurate, and efficient handling of inbound and outbound shipments while maintaining compliance with regulatory and company standards. The manager will coordinate transportation logistics, monitor truck routing and load limits, oversee loading operations, and manage on-site truck traffic to support smooth and safe material movement at the facility.
Essential Functions

Manage shipping and receiving activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.

Determine routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.

Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping procedures and specifications.

Schedule and arrange trucks for material pick-up.

Manage the traffic of trucks at the factory at all times.

Control and perform the freight claim process.

Review, approve, and direct to accounts payable all incoming freight bills.

Maintain a record of pictures for all shipments.

Control shipping schedule according to customer-requested delivery dates.

Provide accurate information to the customer service team regarding the shipment of materials.

Provide accurate information to other departments regarding shipping costs.

Provide an accurate count of finished goods to the purchasing department.

Fosters and develops excellent relationships with transportation companies in a strategic manner.

Ensure accuracy on bills of lading.

Ensure shipping logs are updated daily.

Plan, prioritize, and delegate work tasks to ensure proper functioning of the department.

Identify and implement strategies to improve the quality of service, productivity, and profitability.

Perform timely performance reviews with the shipping and receiving team

Completes training by a supervisor.

Complies with all safety and company policies and procedures.

Education and Experience

High school diploma; BSc/BA in supply chain, logistics or relative field is a definite plus.

Proven experience as shipping manager.

Experience in using EDI and preparing shipping documents (e.g. ASN)

Computer savvy with excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel).

Good understanding of budgeting and reporting.

Experience in directing and evaluating subordinates.
Physical Requirements

Ability to work approximately. 8 hours per day, Monday-Saturday, with the ability to work overtime up to 12 hours per day as well as some Sundays as needed. Hours and shifts depend on season and shipping schedule, and shifts are not guaranteed.

Ability to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods. Must be able to bend, lift, twist, reach, grasp, and perform other physical movements.

Ability to occasionally work in a non-climate-controlled environment with extreme temperatures and humidity, with some outdoor exposure when needed.

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Must be able to effectively use telephone equipment, office equipment and machines, a computer, and have intermediate proficiency in MS Office and email.

Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise environments, chemicals used in the process, and extreme temperatures. The facility is an industrial manufacturing plant.
