The Drafter Level I is an entry‑level role responsible for learning and performing basic to intermediate drafting tasks using AutoCAD and Revit for insulated metal panel (IMP) projects. Under close supervision, this role supports the preparation of shop drawings, material take‑offs, and bills of materials for standard AWIP projects. The Drafter works closely with their Drafting Supervisor, senior Drafting team members, and Project Managers to understand drafting workflows, scheduling, product requirements, and drafting best practices.

Essential Functions

  • Use Revit and AutoCAD to create accurate drawings of IMP structures in accordance with 
    standard drafting practices and construction requirements.
  • Modify and create basic Revit families and incorporate them into company project 
    templates with guidance.
  • Complete assigned drafting tasks and bills of materials accurately, with support from senior 
    Drafting team members as needed.
  • Produce basic or “box”-style IMP shop drawing projects involving minimal complexity and 
    few special conditions.
  • Review drafting schedules and determine work priorities with assistance from Project 
    Managers and/or supervisors.
  • Develop foundational understanding of construction engineering principles, AWIP products, 
    and IMP system behavior.
  • Use AWIP calculators and department spreadsheets correctly and consistently (without 
    performing engineering calculations).
  • Follow AWIP drafting standards, SOPs, and best practices.
  • Build working knowledge of construction terminology relevant to IMP systems and building 
    envelopes.
  • Complete all assigned training, including in-person training conducted by Supervisors
    and/or senior Drafting team members.
  • Comply with all company, departmental, and safety policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of building codes, standards, and construction concepts.
  • Ability to import data into AutoCAD and manage drawings containing multiple layers.
  • Ability to create and edit blocks in AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with PDF markup tools (e.g., Bluebeam) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Revit, SketchUp, Tekla, or comparable drafting/modeling software is a plus.
  • Ability to produce accurate elevations and properly formatted paper-space layouts.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to stay organized and follow established drafting procedures.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Basic proficiency with Box, WhatsApp, or similar productivity tools.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of Revit and/or AutoCAD course and 1+ year experience with Revit and AutoCAD, 
    or equivalent proficiency.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills including attention to detail.
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams primarily).
  • Intermediate skill level in Box, WhatsApp

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work the core hours of 8am- 5pm Monday through Friday with ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Finger dexterity, visual acuity, color, and texture discernment.
  • Ability to regularly work in conditions typical of an office environment, and occasionally work in conditions typical of a manufacturing environment, including noise, extreme temperatures and humidity, odors, dust, etc.
  • Ability to wear prescribed personal protective equipment and appropriate clothing. 
  • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate fluently in English. 
  • Ability to effectively use a telephone, computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and common office equipment and machinery. 
  • Ability to interact effectively and with clients, contractors, employees, and other individuals. 
  • Ability to function effectively with moderate to high levels of stress in a demanding and dynamic environment.  
  • Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time and consistently produce accurate work product, organized thoughts and execute sound judgment. 
  • Must be reliable and dependable. 
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.  
  • Ability to work remotely as required by management. 

Salary: $25-$30 Based on experience and location 

Working Environment 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise environments, chemicals used in the process, and extreme temperatures. The facility is an industrial manufacturing plant. 

This position is designated safety-sensitive.
