Key accounting role based in Vacaville, California. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The Financial Accountant will report directly to the Assistant Controller, working closely with them, and the wider finance team to provide timely and insightful financial information that supports business decision-making.

 

Essential Functions

  • Support the overall finance function to ensure appropriate financial controls are in place across the business
  • Assist with the Preparation of Monthly Balance Sheets and Income Statements
  • Perform Balance sheet account reconciliations including items such as Bank Reconciliations, Vendor Statement Reconciliations & Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register
  • Support Finance in the analysis of overall financial performance including:
    • Production and interpretation of monthly financial performance reports
    • Collaboration with operations team to analyze all KPIs
    • Explanation of monthly production variances
    • Review and analysis of Inventory movements, including obsolescence tracking and reporting
    • Review and analysis of overhead expenditure, including transport variances
    • Completion of customer profitability studies
  • Assist with process of cash management and forecasting.
  • Prepare and review all journal entries required as part of the month end close procedure.
  • Interpretation of results of all transactions and ensure compliance with accounting standards and business procedures.
  • Preparation of financial data to support all capital expenditure requests
  • Assist with audits (internal and external) and coordinate with auditors as needed
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities within the business and execute them
  • Support the implementation of accounting systems and process improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data and reporting.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and tasks assigned by the Assistant Controller or Controller

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven ability to analyze data from multiple systems to present to all levels of leadership in a meaningful and digestible manner.
  • Experience with SAP Preferred.
  • Excellent Skills in Microsoft Office Suite, with a particular emphasis on Excel.
  • Strong analytical ability, with an ability to identify problems and provide best practice solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate within a team
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Limited travel within the USA may be required.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance or Accounting
  • CPA or progress toward CPA designation preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in the accounting field with knowledge of IFRS, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience working with an ERP, preferably SAP is desired

  • The majority of the time, this position will work in an environment typical of an office environment

  • Effectively use a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and commonly used software to complete necessary functions assigned
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with clients, vendors, employees, and other individuals
  • Ability to function effectively with moderate to high levels of stress in a demanding and dynamic environment
  • Employee must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time and consistently produce organized thoughts and execute sound judgment
  • Travel by automobile, airplane, and other modes of economy class public transportation as required
  • Fluent use of the English language to communicate verbally and in writing effectively
  • Must be able to lift at least 25Ibs.

 

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise environments, chemicals used in the process, and extreme temperatures. The facility is an industrial manufacturing plant.
