Job Summary:
The Assistant Controller at AWIP will be responsible for managing various financial functions, including overseeing analysts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other supporting financial roles. This position will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial operations, compliance with accounting standards, and providing accurate financial reporting. The Assistant Controller will also be passionate about developing talent, fostering a strong team culture, and providing ongoing training to enhance the skills and capabilities of the finance team.
 
Essential Functions:
•    Oversee the daily operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting.
•    Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and regulatory requirements.
•    Ensure accuracy and completeness of monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, including reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
•    Manage cash flow forecasting and monitor company liquidity to ensure optimal financial management.
•    Support budgeting and forecasting activities in collaboration with department heads, providing detailed analysis and recommendations.
•    Assist in internal and external audits, preparing required documentation and ensuring compliance with GAAP and other financial regulations.
•    Implement and improve internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial information and mitigate risk.
•    Lead special financial projects such as process improvements, system implementations, and data analysis to support business decisions.
•    Collaborate with the Controller to establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.
•    Prepare and present financial reports to senior management with insights and recommendations for improvement.
 
Leadership and Supervisory Responsibilities:
•    Supervise and mentor finance team members, including analysts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other supporting roles, ensuring performance aligns with company goals.
•    Develop talent and provide training to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
•    Set clear expectations and performance goals, regularly providing feedback, coaching, and recognition to support team development.
•    Create opportunities for cross-training within the department, ensuring that staff are equipped with the skills to handle various aspects of the finance function.
•    Encourage a collaborative environment, promoting open communication and teamwork to enhance problem-solving and decision-making.
•    Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports to discuss progress, identify development needs, and address challenges.
•    Support career development paths for team members, identifying potential leaders and creating succession plans to ensure business continuity.
•    Foster a culture of accountability and ownership, ensuring that team members are empowered to take responsibility for their work.
•    Lead by example in demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in all financial operations.
 
Qualifications:
•    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
•    5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
•    Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
•    Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
•    Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•    Proficiency with accounting software and SAP.
•    Demonstrated passion for talent development, training, and mentorship.
