Job Summary

Support the Fires Battle Lab (FBL) in performing Army and Joint directed experimentation, demonstrations, analysis and supporting Institutional training.

Background

Support the FBL conducting current and future force concept and live prototype assessments experiments, new technology demonstrations, and Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADA) events to gain insights to emerging and evolving concepts, technology and materiel initiatives to provide informed, recommended changes to Doctrine, Organizations, Training, Material, Leadership and Education, Personnel and Facilities and Policy (DOTMLPF-P). Key to success in this effort is the continued assessment and development of Future Fires capabilities such as directed energy (high energy laser, high power microwaves, etc.), plasma and electrodynamic kinetic energy weapons’ (i.e. railgun, electro-thermal gun, etc.) technologies used to destroy, degrade, deny or disrupt a threat's capability.

 

Requirements

·        Possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher.

·        Be a US citizen.

·        Possess and maintain and active SECRET clearance. One must have Top Secret.

·        Have consistent access to Fort Sill through a Common Access Card (CAC) or pass.

·        Have field artillery battalion or higher Operations Officer or Executive Officer experience (can be substituted with targeting experience at Brigade level or higher).

·        Be able to write reports and Executive Summaries (EXSUM) free of grammatical errors.

Job Details

·        Develop training material for players (if required for the experiment).

·        Develop Vignette’s and Scenarios.

·        Develop and administer training on use of designated simulations (if required for the experiment).

·        Develop force structure and manning requirements for experiments.

·        Perform FireSim program validation through testing and evaluation of models presented within the FireSim and EADSIM program.

·        Assist analysts and ORSAs in writing final reports for experiments: develop insights, findings, observations, and recommendations.

·        Assist in experiment design and methodology for the collection of data for experiments.

·        Develop and distribute surveys and questionnaires for new concepts and capabilities; develop insights, findings, observations and provide recommendations based on the results of these. Review and understand concept documents; review and provide feedback when directed.

·        Attend all planning meetings for experiments -Set the Experiment, IPC, MPC, FPC, IPR’s and Working Groups.

·        Provide a Road to War brief for FBL led experiments.

·        Provide a written evaluation of the FireSim model to software engineers describing the accuracy of artillery modeling in the simulation.

·        Provide written recommendations for force structure/manning requirements to ensure accurate execution of the experiment.

·        Fill out SCRs prior to an experiment. Throughout the experiment follow up with PTR, data output requirements, and to correct problems/ trouble associated with simulations once identified.

·        Use Government provided format and the Government shall take input and prioritize these changes with all other SCRs and PTRs.

·        Provide EXSUMS for all experiments, planning meetings, IPRs, Rehearsals of Concept (ROC), and working groups.

·        Attain a military driver’s license.

·        Become RSO and CLS certified within 90 days of award, maintain RSO and CLS certification.

·        Become knowledgeable on future Field Artillery capabilities and limitations, including weapons, munitions, formations, sensors, and Mission Command Information Systems (MCIS) such as AFATDS, JADOCS, etc.

·        Provide support across the community of practice where Field Artillery equities are represented.

Assist in the development of learning demands and study issues for each experiment.
