Title: Forensic Instructor (three openings)

Job Summary


The Forensic Instructor is responsible for supplementing the training programs at the Defense Forensic Science Center (DFSC). Forensic Instructors will be Subject Matter Experts that can educate trainees on necessary laboratory techniques, analysis, and prepare examiners for independent laboratory casework. The objective of this contract is to obtain Forensic Instructors with professional knowledge of education principles, learning theory, and adult learning for standardization and continued development of the technical training programs and implementation of additional learning management platform. 


Education/Degree: 


Possess a bachelor’s degree in biological science or forensic science from an accredited institution. 


Experience:


A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a forensic laboratory performing DNA analysis on criminal evidence, including blood and bloodstains, body fluids, and stains of body fluids, hair and other items requiring DNA or related analysis; generation of DNA profiles, performance of visual and microscopic examination of hairs; comparison of evidence from victims, scenes, or instruments of incidents to evidence from suspects. Have experience in teaching Forensic Science, instructional design, or communications. 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


·        Demonstrate competency by completing a Contractor Assessment, as well as annual demonstration of continued proficiency through testing.

·        Provide professional education knowledge and skills in coordinating, monitoring, and accomplishing the delivery of courses and applying training methods, procedures, and techniques for various designated programs or areas of instruction.

·        Familiar with the Adult Learning Models and their application to learning objectives and task learning relationships

·        Employ a combination of advanced instructional methods including lecture, seminar, small group instruction, conference, practical exercises, programmed texts, case studies, and interactive multimedia instruction (IMI) to deliver training by the DFSC specific blocks of instruction and standards of procedure.

·        Serve as subject matter expert in the assigned field with the responsibility for maintenance and the training program's continual improvement.

·        Apply professional education concepts to assist in developing learning objectives and methods of instruction.

·        Advise Technical Leaders, Supervisors, and other instructors on educational processes and instructional procedures.

·        Assist in developing, evaluating, and analyzing written and oral performance evaluations; conducting remedial instruction as required outlined for and agreed by the Training Manager and Technical Leader.

·        Use training aids and equipment to include computer systems and associated IMI, document image projectors, and Laboratory Management Systems (LMS)

·        Cross-train with other instructors as required.

·        Serve as technical advisor for associated SME training literature, extension courses, technical extension course lessons, and audio-visual and IMI products production.

·        Stay abreast of developments through reading relevant professional journals and magazines and maintaining an awareness of the nature of articles accepted by such publications.


Requirements:


·        Able to pass general access requirements for Gillem Enclave, Forest Park, GA.

·        Attend a Government-approved Instructor Development Course (e.g., FLETA IDC).

·        U.S. citizenship is required.

·        A DoD SECRET clearance is required.

·        Able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Common Access Card.

·        Provide a DNA sample and information at no cost to the contractor.

·        Travel to attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and to visit other facilities. Anticipate two (2) trips annually.
