Job Summary: Term position (6 - 12 month)

Instructors at the Infantry Mortar Leader Course (IMLC) provide commissioned (2LT – CPT) and non-commissioned officers (SGT – SFC) with the knowledge to supervise and direct high angle fires from a mortar element to enable the United States Army and the Joint Force to prevail in Multi-Domain and Large Scale Combat Operations.

Instructions include tactical employment of the mortar platoon, graphics, fire planning, mechanical training, FO procedures, and fire direction control procedures. Desired Instructors of the Infantry Mortar Leader Course develop Mortar Leaders to:

1 Integrate advanced technical competencies when computing fire missions utilizing the M16 Plotting Board (Analog Mode).

2 Integrate advanced technical competencies when computing fire missions utilizing the M32 Lightweight Handheld Mortar Ballistic Computer (LHMBC), and the M95 Mortar Fire Control System (MFCS) (Digital Mode).

3 Incorporate advanced technical mechanical knowledge of all assigned mortar equipment into a deliberate decision making process.

4 Identify and assimilate strategies for incorporating advanced technical and tactical competencies during employment of mortars in all operational environments.

Key qualifications:

-Currently experience 3-6 years leading a mortar section or platoon. 

-IMLC graduate (B1 or 3Z skill identifier)

-Experience as an instructor

-Thorough understanding of 60mm, 81mm and 120mm mortar systems.
