Job Summary

SFA – General Skilled Role Player participates in military training exercises that simulate real world situations and “patterns of life” in an Operational Environment. Roles include various scripted and unscripted roles of civilians on the battlefield known as non-combatants (NC). NC’s such as innocent bystanders (casualties), shopkeepers, family members, villagers, etc. This position also has the ability to replicate insurgents and generally plays one of several roles of indigenous people in a foreign culture. This position supports Security Force Assistance Course and other training events as directed.

 

Essential Functions:

·        Ability to learn or relevant in-country professional experience to allow the individual to portray their assigned role in a factually correct and believable manner consistent with rotational training exercise scenario requirements

·        Provide high-fidelity, OE (Operational Environment) emulation/character representation that delivers accurate replication of activities and established scenarios

·        Demonstrate knowledge of approved OE scenario, role, and human behavior patterns so that the behavior may be appropriately modeled for Blue Force students for recognition and analysis under the heuristics, proxemics, atmospherics, geographics, biometrics and kinesics methodology

·        Ability to obtain an in-depth and current understanding of relevant threat force doctrine and tactics

·        Ability to demonstrate OE depiction, in accordance with AR 350-2 and the FM/TC 7-100 series manuals

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

 

Work Environment
This job operates in an outdoor field environment in anticipated climatic conditions (i.e. heat, humidity, sleet, rain) on a U.S. military installation.

 

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee should be capable of performing their assigned work moving distances up to 3 kilometers (KM) over uneven ground and may have to remain standing for extended periods of time in order to support training.  Additionally, the employee must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds in scenario and during OE set-up/tear down as a member of administrative work teams and carrying all associated data collection devices and equipment props in support of the training environment.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Work hours are based on course requirements, daily hours average 8 hours per day with some work in excess of 10 hours. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available for majority of work hours and working days and works as needed as a part time employee. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Employee must be reachable for coordinating work schedules.

 

Travel
Travel is not expected for this position.

 

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

·        Supported in at least one CATC Course

·        High School Diploma or Equivalent

·        Must have excellent speaking and listening skills

·        Must have ability to listen and interpret messages correctly

·        Able to navigate web based timecard and pay systems

 

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

·        Previous experience as a role player familiar with heuristics, proxemics, atmospherics, geographics, biometrics, and kinesics methodology

·        Knowledge of handling various weapon systems; able to assemble, dissemble, and maintain them

  • Able to learn and use short phrases in a foreign language
  • U.S. military experience
