The Software Security Team (SST) is responsible for obtaining, evaluating, packaging, and distributing software security patches for USAF mission planning systems.  These planning systems are program managed assets that are not updated automatically. The SST Member is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the support and operations of prime and subcontractor personnel working in direct support of the assigned contract. Active Secret security clearance required. 


Responsibilities

·       Member of a work team that reviews DoD and US Air Force IT security directives, downloads appropriate updates/patches, and assembles monthly patch sets  for mission planning systems.

·       Team creates monthly patch sets for each of 30+ mission planning systems.

·       Assembles updates/patches into a single scripted installation/update.

·       Evaluates patch sets to ensure there is no adverse impact on the mission planning applications.  If there are, identify the patch, exclude it from the distribution set, and document the risk to the mission planning program office.

·       Evaluates candidate mission planning hardware purchases for security vulnerabilities.

·       Interprets and implements DoD and Air Force IT security policies and directives. Communicates with program and enterprise partners to ensure compliance and accomplish government requirements.   

 

Minimum Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements

·       DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technician Level 2 (Security+ or equivalent) or higher required.

·       Three or more years work experience in IT security.

·       Bachelor’s degree in technical field preferred.

·       Familiarity with Microsoft Windows client operating systems.

·       Familiarity with DoD/USAF security practices for identifying, categorizing, and addressing vulnerabilities in operating systems and application software.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to include ability to present technical concepts and issues in clear laymen’s terms to government managers.

·       Must possess an active Secret security clearance.
