Job Summary

SFA- Training Support Specialist performs duties in support of replicating an operational environment and training scenarios that are comprised of various roles in order to emulate a variety of positions and requirements. This position supports Security Force Assistance Course and other training events as directed

Essential Functions:

  • To play several roles of various military staff, indigenous people in a province, district, or village in a training scenario/exercise.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Operational Environment scenarios and human behavior patterns while playing various character roles.
  • Lead a small team in the Operational Environment (OE) that represent BLUFOR, OPFOR, or Guerilla Forces.
  • Execute key leader engagements using political-military terminology and concepts used by senior military and civilian leaders.
  • Other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position leads a small cell team made up of  ~10  part-time employees. Communicating schedules, locations, assigned roles, and other job information.

Work Environment
This job operates in an outdoor field environment in anticipated climatic conditions (i.e. heat, humidity, sleet, rain) on a U.S. military installation.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee should be capable of performing their assigned work walking distances up to 3 miles over uneven ground and may have to remain standing for extended periods of time in order to support training. Additionally, the employee must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds in scenario and during OE set-up/tear down as a member of the administrative work teams.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel
Travel is not expected for this position.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must have excellent oral and written skills
  • Must have ability to listen and interpret messages correctly
  • Thoroughly familiar with Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

  • 5-10 years of U.S. military experience
  • Overseas experience working with foreign military forces 
  • Familiar with handling various weapon systems; assembling, dissembling, and maintain them.
