Position:

The National Director, Strategic Accounts will report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer and work with the Vice President, Sales as a core member of the US Sales Leadership Team. The successful candidate will have deep pharmaceutical sales leadership experience in leading commercial strategies and initiatives related to customer solutions.  Experience with prescriptions adjudication workflows from manufacturing to the point of sale are critical for success in this role.  The candidate should have product launch experience in Dermatology and a demonstrated track record of exceeding objectives. S/he must be able to operate as a leader in a fast-paced organization, with high expectations and accountability on quality and delivering on commitments. Success will require the individual to develop strong cross-functional relationships with key internal business partners such as Marketing, Sales Operations, Medical Affairs, Learning & Development, Business Operations and Market Access to share real time customer insight to support achievement of company objectives in compliance with company guidelines and standards of practice.


Responsibilities include:

  • Work directly with the VP, Sales to build and deploy a best-in-class sales organization
  • Supervisory responsibilities include (but are not limited to) interviewing, hiring, and training employees; building and maintain employee morale and motivation: planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising and rewarding performance; tracking compliance and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Attract, recruit, hire and retain top talent, motivate the team, delegate effectively, celebrate diversity within the team, and manage performance
  • Develop and cultivate a performance-based culture to achieve long and short-term regional and national sales objectives while fostering a communicative and inclusive organizational structure
  • Manage the components, tracking and audit of the manufacturer adjudication result expenses
  • Manage the retail pharmacy relationships from trade channel to point of sale solutions
  • Manage all financial resources while adhering to quarterly and annual budget objectives
  • Create and implement strong individual career and leadership development plans
  • Create a culture of empowerment, effective leadership, values, and teamwork
  • Build a solid alignment between field sales, managed markets, training and marketing departments to promote collaboration, information sharing, and objective obtainment
  • Support the design of commercial compensation strategies and structure.  Utilize effective communication for variable compensation plan implementation at the Field and District levels
  • Develop and track key sales metrics for all growth initiatives. 
  • Monitor and report sales achievements for the executive management team
  • Manage key customer relationships, participate in closing strategic opportunities and regularly participate in client sales activities 
  • Support the VP of Sales to define appropriate sales, managed markets and training structure to achieve revenue targets
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage conflicts and issues regarding matters of significance
  • Work closely with Compliance and Legal departments to ensure adherence of all policies and procedures
  • Set clear expectations and hold teams and teammates accountable
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty, while demonstrating the ability to adapt nimbly and lead others through complex situations 


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college/university required. MBA preferred
  • 7+ years pharmaceutical industry sales leadership experience
  • Experience managing departmental budgets and expenses
  • Experience with launching drugs, specific experience and knowledge with Dermatology electronic medical record systems
  • Effective presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Vast understanding of the prescription adjudication process including systems, coverage and codes
  • Ability to travel
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and influencing skills
  • Proven financial acumen and firm understanding of P&L financials
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills in recruiting, developing, retaining, and motivating a high-performance team through product launch, market development and expansion activities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a strong leadership team, as well as with a large number of different outside collaborators
  • Demonstrated track record in the commercial launch of new products
  • Ability to design operational reports for HCPs and retail pharmacies based on coverage codes and ratios along with business rules
  • Proficient in strategic planning, budgeting, and sales incentive reporting and analysis
  • Experience in the efficient and effective use of CRM tools
