API Architect

EV Connect is seeking an experienced, hands-on API Architect with 8+ years of design, prototyping and implementation experience. If you share our passion for electric mobility ecosystems, the environment and energy independence for future generations, please read on.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior API Architect to lead the charge in defining our next generation API-first architecture. This person will play a crucial role in creating and maintaining secured, scalable, highly responsive and robust API suites hosted in our cloud native environments.

As an API Architect, you'll contribute to the following activities:

Work closely with Products on business use cases by providing technical expertise and supporting documentation.
Own all aspects of our Integration Architecture (IA). Evaluate emerging technologies.
Establish and document the full life cycle of API governance standards and best practices.
Drive towards industry standards and RESTful services and identify appropriate integration approaches.
Work with internal and external API consumers and service providers. Drive towards optimal integration agreements.
Document the API landscape, identifying gaps and participate in roadmaps definition.
Continuously monitor and improve API performance and utilization. Predict scaling needs and manage scaling operations effectively.
Manage API gateways. Design and enforce API policies.
Supervise partner facing API documentation as well as internal API documentation.
Ensure designs and initiatives are in line with the overall corporate vision, strategies and goals.
Train and mentor others on REST APIs, microservices, API Gateways, containers, and automation.

Required skills and experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
8+ years of experience in API architecture and development, specifically with REST frameworks
Experience in OAuth2, OIDC, TLS, mTLS, OpenAPI, Swagger, SAML, PKI and Digital Certificates
Solid understanding of microservice architecture and containerization technologies
Good knowledge of Integration/API life cycle & Methodology, API standards and style guides
Strong Background in REST based API development
Strong software engineering and SAAS background
Strong knowledge in core AWS services like API Gateway, S3, EC2, EKS, Lambda, SNS, SQS, Cognito, DynamoDB or equivalence in Azure
Solid experience with Spring Boot, Java JavaScript, React, React Native, WebSockets, MongoDB Atlas, ELK stack.
Experience operating in an Agile delivery model.
Experience with cloud-native applications and an understanding of design principles for scalability, performance, and reliability.
Good understanding of event driven architectures
Excellent problem-solving abilities and a performance-oriented mindset
Should have excellent communication skills. Be a fast learner and proactive thinker.
Ability to innovate, automate, and continually improve processes. Possess critical thinking and analytical skills.

Would be a plus:

Electric Utility experience
EV charging industry experience.
Familiar with EV charging protocols like OCPP and OCPI
Experience with ELK stack.
Experience with New Relic and Grafana
Software Development Kit (SDK) building experience
