Position Overview:

The Director, Business Development will enhance EV Connect’s market position via partnerships that complement EV Connect’s offering and bring additional value to the market in general and further sales of EV Connect’s products in particular. Working collaboratively with other EV Connect executives, s/he will work to identify, develop, and engage strategic corporate relationships and partnerships, while creating a proven process for repeatable success. These partnerships may be corporate wide or sector specific, such as Vehicle Manufacturers, Energy Companies, Utilities, Retail, Municipalities, Hospitality, Healthcare, and Technology, Building Automation and Education.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and lead Business Development activities, including identifying, pursuing, and securing potential partners of significance to the company’s primary objectives.
  • Business Development activities and pursuits must ultimately tie either to direct revenue growth or create a clear and compelling competitive differentiator/market advantage. Paper partnerships are not desired.
  • Will be responsible for deal structuring and defining agreements, execution, and delivery, integrating contract requirements with business operations. This extends to successful implementation and onboarding of new partnerships. You will receive support from other departments internally, but ultimately you own the partnerships success or failure.  
  • Proactively engages with other internal departments, including Sales, Product Management, Marketing, Legal and Finance in advance to ensure smooth and effective incorporation of any partnership created.
  • Successfully tracks, reports, and presents, appropriate metrics; develops data-driven plans to ensure alignment to business objectives.
  • Analyze and review market and competitive landscape to identify trends and opportunities for potential new partnerships.
  • Develops corporate partnerships proactively, through both traditional (networking, cold calling, etc.) and innovative methods (strategic marketing and partnerships, leveraging market research and data analysis, etc.).
  • Identifies and proposes new opportunity areas, or lines of business, based on market analysis.

 

 Qualifications:

  • 5 – 10+ years of commercial business development, market development, partnership and/or sales experience related to partner accounts.
  • Creativity, vision and strong business acumen give you the ability to connect the dots – bring technology and business needs together for an offering the market finds compelling.
  • Demonstrated track record developing new business, successful partner account management, communicating and implementing strategies.
  • Ability to think and act strategically, with experience in strategic planning and execution a plus.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional teams, and across all levels within an organization.
  • Experience utilizing various CRM tools to track and document activities, with HubSpot experience a plus.
  • Innovative self-starter, with the ability to devise solutions to complex problems, and to implement those solutions hands-on, while bringing creativity to the workplace.
  • A self-starter who can operate with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture.
  • Ability to travel nationally as needed.
  • Have an ownership mentality, one in which you embrace the responsibility and the opportunity.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in solar, energy efficiency, electric vehicle charging, vehicle, or the automotive, energy or transportation sectors, is a plus.
  • A passion for environmental issues, or electric vehicles, alternative fuels, and/or clean transportation in particular, is a plus.
