EV Connect is looking for a well-rounded Technical Writer to create user / product documentation for our API and SaaS platforms. The Technical Writer will not only be creating content, but also serve as a strategic thought partner in defining tools and processes to maintain documentation efficiently in the future. The Technical Writer will need to be able to quickly dive into the details of our API and SaaS platforms, understand functionality and use cases, and gather the information necessary (either through engineering / product management or by diving into the code directly) to update and augment current documentation. The ability to interface with and write for both technical and non-technical audiences is critical for the role. The role will be freelance to start focused on user / product documentation, but could expand into a larger permanent role covering other areas such as a developer portal, knowledge base, and onboarding and training content for the right person.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·        Get up-to-speed on EV Connect’s API and SaaS platforms and identify gaps in current user / product documentation

·        Update and continuously improve documentation by responding to and incorporating feedback from customers and internal users

·        Work closely with engineering, product management, and support teams to ensure quality and accuracy of content

·        Write and edit code samples to support documentation

·        Set up tools and processes to standardize and streamline management of documentation

 

Position Requirements:

·        3+ years of experience authoring API and SaaS user / product documentation

·        Experience designing and delivering documentation for technical and non-technical audiences

·        Experience working with cross-functional teams to gather technical information from engineers and product managers

·        Comfortable writing code samples and navigating / reading source code in one or more languages, e.g. Java

·        Experience working in Agile environment

·        Experience with Jira / Confluence

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills

·        Ability to work independently and in a remote role if applicable - a self-starter
