About the Role 

The Director of Distribution and Logistics will lead Precor's global distribution and logistics function, ensuring that products are delivered to customers efficiently, on time, and within budget. This role is critical in optimizing the supply chain, managing warehousing, transportation, inventory, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and overall driving the company’s strategic objectives in alignment with global operations.  

The Director will play a pivotal role in enhancing Precor's distribution network, improving lead times, and reducing costs, while also supporting the bonded warehouse strategy and ensuring alignment with regional revenue and customer service goals. 

Responsibilities 

Global Distribution Management: 

  • Develop and implement strategies for the efficient distribution of products across global markets. 

  • Optimize distribution networks to ensure timely delivery and minimize costs. 

  • Oversee the performance of distribution centers, ensuring they operate at peak efficiency. 

Logistics Strategy and Execution: 

  • Lead logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and inventory management, with a focus on cost optimization and service quality. 

  • Develop and implement logistics strategies that align with the company’s overall operational goals. 

  • Ensure compliance with global trade regulations and optimize the flow of goods to minimize delays. 

Import/Export Compliance: 

  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with all import/export regulations and international trade laws. 

  • Work closely with legal and compliance teams to monitor changes in trade regulations and adjust logistics operations accordingly. 

  • Manage documentation, customs clearance, and classification of goods, ensuring that all imports and exports are processed smoothly and legally. 

  • Provide training and support to the logistics team on compliance matters, ensuring that all team members are knowledgeable about relevant regulations. 

Supply Chain Optimization: 

  • Work closely with the Sr. Director of Supply Chain Strategy to align logistics strategies with sourcing and planning objectives. 

  • Enhance the efficiency of supply chain processes to reduce lead times and improve product availability. 

  • Manage the bonded warehouse strategy, ensuring that it aligns with regional revenue expectations and customer demands. 

Vendor and Partnership Management: 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with logistics providers and other key partners. 

  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements to ensure the best terms and conditions for Precor. 

  • Develop a scorecard system to evaluate the performance of logistics partners. 

Technology and Process Improvement: 

  • Leverage technology to improve logistics operations, including the use of AI tools for demand forecasting and supply chain optimization. 

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance distribution and logistics processes. 

  • Ensure that the logistics function is agile and can adapt to changes in the market and customer demands. 

Inventory Control: 

  • Lead and mentor the inventory control team to ensure accurate and efficient management of inventory levels, maintaining optimal supply for production and customer orders while minimizing excess stock and obsolescence. 

  • Oversee the execution of regular inventory audits and cycle counts by the team, ensuring discrepancies are promptly identified and resolved, and data integrity is maintained across inventory management systems. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring the inventory control team supports procurement, production, and sales in forecasting demand, managing inventory levels, and preventing stockouts or overstock situations. 

  • Establish and enforce inventory management policies and procedures, guiding the team to optimize storage, handling practices, and inventory turnover, driving operational efficiency and cost reduction. 

Team Leadership and Development: 

  • Lead and develop a global team of logistics and distribution professionals. 

  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus within the logistics team. 

  • Provide mentoring and career development opportunities for team members. 

Financial Management: 

  • Manage the logistics budget, ensuring that costs are controlled and aligned with company financial goals. 

  • Track and report on key logistics KPIs, including cost per unit, delivery lead times, and inventory turnover. 

  • Work closely with finance to develop and monitor the logistics budget and ensure financial alignment with the company’s goals. 

Qualifications 

  • 9+ years of experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. 

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience with import/export compliance 

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. 

  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities. 

  • In-depth knowledge of global logistics, distribution, and supply chain management. 

  • Proven track record of optimizing logistics operations and reducing costs. 

  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills. 

  • Ability to leverage technology and data analytics to drive decision-making. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • A Master’s degree is preferred.
