We are currently recruiting a remote position for Sr. Sourcing Manager to join our Global Sourcing team at China office in Shanghai.

 

SUMMARY

Sr. Sourcing Manager works in conjunction with our suppliers, Global Sourcing and Purchasing, Quality, Product Development (PD), and to assure supplier selection, product design, product quality and product costs meet the target. This position will be a key member on the New Product Introduction (NPI) team as well as with post launch supplier management responsibilities. During the phases of NPI, this person will be responsible for assuring all mechanical and electronics manufacturing and quality methods provide a finished product that meets the design intent and a quality experience for the commercial . Once a product has been released, this role will be central in driving opportunities for improvements including reducing cost, improving quality and reducing manufacturing cycle times through the life of the product.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports defining, developing and executing global supplier management and global sourcing strategies.  This includes (but is not limited to) collaborating on Supplier identification, evaluation, qualification, development and selection processes.
  • Engages in Supplier Performance process for global suppliers.  This will be done in conjunction with internal partners from the function areas.  Reports on assigned Supplier’s performance, KPI’s and other pertinent data.
  • Develops close working internal relationships with New Product Development Program Managers to ensure new product development initiatives are prioritized and aligned with the sourcing strategies and plans, and projects deliverables are achieved. 
  • Work with internal partner functions in Program Team settings to manage new product program cost summaries, including getting Costed Bill of Materials (CBOM) and other costing details.  Establish a product cost “baseline” at the appropriate time (typically at Implementation Gate phase) and perform subsequent quote updates from Supplier with reconciliation of current quote to the baseline. Maintain quote/pricing history file to track price changes during development or other phases. 
  • Coordinate completion of all contracts, contract addendums to Master Supplier Agreement (MSA) in the appropriate timeframe.  Monitor contracts for compliance to terms and conditions.  Initiate corrective action when appropriate. 
  • Responsible for timely completion of all Engineering Change Order (ECO) cost impact reviews and publish impacts in the ECO document prior to formal approval.  Escalate Engineering Change Requests (ECR’s) when financial impact exceeds business needs.
  • Supports the Team members through the Request for Quotation (RFQ) Process for new/emerging Product Programs, Re-sourcing activities or general quoting activities.  At times becomes RFQ Process leader. Obtains and analyzes quote submission and maintains the CBOM during quote phase for use later in Design Phase. 
  • Actively participates in a cross functional Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) Cost Reduction Program with Product Development and other departments.  Track cost savings/avoidance efforts including money saved and money spent as a company.  Works aggressively towards achieving corporate annual objectives.
  • Keeps other groups in Operations informed on new program status.
  • Coordinates with Quality and Engineering teams to ensure qualification of potential suppliers and supports supplier audit corrective actions. 
  • Proactively monitors and communicates marketplace conditions, long-range commodity indexes, supplier capacity issues, supplier closings, and supplier stock out situations, and other issues that would have a major impact on the business.  Utilizes and contributes to the development of the Commodity price/cost index. This will include should-cost modeling in cooperation with regional analysts.  
  • Understand production schedule, able to identify risk and mitigate risk.
  • Develops and maintains professional, ethical, and cordial relationships with all suppliers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum experience of 6 years working in a contract manufacturing environment with hands-on supplier management responsibilities as part of the job.
  • Strong business acumen combined with negotiation/influencing expertise, analytical ability to identify and exploit key opportunities, and highly developed communication skills. 
  • Previous successful experience in sourcing globally, particularly in Low-Cost Regions (China, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, India and other locations), with an ability to work with multiple cultures.
  • An appreciation and understanding of Chinese culture and business protocol is strongly preferred.
  • Several years of strong project management experience with an ability to successfully lead cross-functional teams, influence others and manage change.
  • Numerous years of experience in managing complex business issues across the entire supply chain, with the ability to coordinate and communicate with global, cross-functional departments.
  • Experience working with OEM suppliers and manufacturers, and thorough understanding of New Product Introduction process activities from technical design to production. 
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience and general knowledge of electronic component and electronic circuit board manufacturing processes strongly considered.
  • Extensive experience with strategic sourcing and supplier management concepts, world class manufacturing principles, Lean principles and strategies, and Quality Management Systems.
  • Must be capable of constructively challenging existing business practices and developing alternate solutions which drive improved business results.
  • Must be able to perform in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, and time-sensitive environment.
