About the Role

The Credit Specialist will assist with all aspects of the credit approval process for new and existing customers following established policies, practices, and procedures in a manner that will result in maximum sales, sound receivables, and the prompt conversion of receivables into cash with a minimum of past due accounts.  

The Credit Specialist should have strong analytical skills and decision-making capabilities. This individual will work continuously to reduce aging receivables for assigned portfolio of accounts and inform all impacted parties of the status of collection efforts throughout the process. The Credit Specialist reports to the Credit Manager, and interacts extensively with customers, sales, customer service, accounting, and logistics personnel.

The responsibilities listed below will be elements included within the role, and training and support will be given for the trainee to work to a level where they are confident in the below responsibilities over a timeframe of 1-2 years.

Please note this is a hybrid position, which requires in office presence 2-3 days per week. All interested candidates must live within a commutable distance to our Frimley location. 

 

Responsibilities

Daily management of assigned portfolio of accounts

  • Manage order activity, disputes, and collections for account portfolio assignments.
  • Perform collection and reconciliation work on assigned portfolio’s receivables and document all customer interactions in SAP.
  • Complete invoice billing through portals on an as-needed basis.
  • Support internal customer requests through a ticketing system.
  • Manage pre-payments and release orders as payments are received.

 

New account and existing account credit line reviews

  • Perform individually or collaborate with the Credit Manager in various areas, including reviewing credit applications, ensuring completeness, and requesting additional information if required.
  • Analyze standard business and personal credit reports, request banking and vendor references, and review financial statements and all other applicable credit sources to determine creditworthiness.
  • Prepare, analyze, and make recommendations for increases and decreases of credit lines exceeding authority levels to senior management.
  • Submit recommended credit limit requests to management and communicate results promptly to necessary parties. Negotiate down payments and non-standard credit terms as necessary while preserving the customer relationship.

 

Order Approvals and Collections

  • Perform individually or collaborate with the Credit Manager in various areas, including Managing the order hold queue throughout the day and ensuring timely approval of new orders.  Interface with stakeholders on the status of aged orders on hold.
  • Monitor all assigned accounts, contact customers with past due accounts in a bi-weekly manner, and interface with stakeholders consistently on the status of delayed installations, missing documentation, and stagnant orders.
  • Work closely with the Credit Management and Sales Department on any accounts that do not pay in a timely manner, making every effort to minimize bad debt write-offs.  Utilize appropriate measures (held orders, escalating verbal and written communications, outside collection agencies, legal counsel, etc.) when needed. 
  • During communications with customers, strive to increase customer understanding of Precor policies (payment terms, returns, credit, warranty, freight, etc.)

 

Miscellaneous

  • Assist the Credit Manager with system improvements, including implementation of new automation solutions.
  • Continually evaluate current processes with key stakeholders and make recommendations for improvement to senior management.
  • Investigate and resolve customer issues, including reconciliation of payment disputes, chargebacks, discounts, credit adjustments, write-offs, and refunds and follow up with customers on resolution.
  • Assist Sales and Customer Service personnel in the problem resolution process related to credit, collections and disputes through a ticketing system.
  • Maintain a database of customer credit histories.

 

Qualifications

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Will be provided training towards an appropriate level or qualification.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing or sales environment
