About the Role

The Electrical Engineer designs electrical systems for Precor cardio products, manages suppliers of electrical subsystems, and ensures that both meet Precor engineering standards for quality. The incumbent has a working knowledge of all areas of electronics design and embedded software, with enough depth to be able to specify, critique, and validate them. In addition, the Electrical Engineer has electronics design expertise within Precor’s core competencies, including digital display systems, motors, and motor controllers, power supplies, and electromagnetics.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develops electrical system designs that are consistent with Precor’s cascade of choices.
  • Responsible for producing and specifying designs that are optimized for cost, competitiveness, and reliability.
  • Maintaining relationships with key industry component manufacturers, utilizing their expertise to improve Precor products.
  • Translates engineering requirements into fully realized, practical designs.
  • Plan, develop, and test components, equipment, and systems to ensure they are safe, dependable, and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Applies lean engineering principles and DFM concepts to designs.
  • Investigates high-value technologies and develops practical designs, working in conjunction with the R&D team.
  • Develop test plans and perform tests on electrical circuitry, equipment, and systems.
  • Effectively and objectively communicates information to leadership, staff, customers, and suppliers.
  • Serves as a mentor to other engineers within the company, helping them develop their design, analysis, and critical thinking skills.
  • Actively pursues continuous improvement and ease of doing business to create value for the customer and business.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering analysis, processes, testing tools, and technical documentation standards.
  • Ability to manage OEM and ODM relationships.
  • Up to 10% travel to meet with customers, fitness clubs and studios to see the product and usage in the field.
  • Individuals may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally pick up to 40 pounds.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Science degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • 5+ years of product design/engineering experience with strong, demonstrable, technical skills.
  • Working knowledge of all areas of electronics design and embedded software, with enough depth to be able to specify, critique, and validation.
  • Proficient in the use of various measurement devices including oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and power analyzers.
  • Understanding of design evaluation techniques such as reliability analysis, statistical tolerance, Failure Mode, and Effect analysis (FMEA).
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to manage simultaneous tasks in an environment that can be demanding.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (Oral and Written).

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience designing Android based display system.
  • Electronics design expertise within Precor’s core competencies, including digital display systems, motors and motor controllers, power supplies, and electromagnetics.
  • Working Knowledge of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC (Near Field Communication) & EMI
  • Radiated and conducted immunity in terms of FCC and CE regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resources allocation and project management.
  • Experience in contract manufacturing is a plus.
  • Knowledge of UL 1647, IEC 60335 is a plus.
