About the Role
The Supervisor, Manufacturing Purchasing plays a key leadership role in overseeing day-to-day procurement activities that support manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials, components, and services required for production, while maintaining strong supplier relationships and adherence to quality and compliance standards. The role leads and develops a purchasing team, drives execution of procurement strategies, monitors supplier performance, and partners closely with Manufacturing, Planning, Engineering, and Finance to ensure operational continuity and cost efficiency. This position also supports inventory optimization, risk mitigation, and process improvement initiatives to enhance overall supply chain performance.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support & Shortage Prevention
- Own material readiness across the 6–8 week production horizon; proactively identify and close supply gaps to prevent line stoppages.
- Establish and lead a structured daily and weekly shortage review cadence with Planning, Materials, and Manufacturing; drive issues to timely resolution.
- Lead expedite, de-expedite, and recovery plans, including supplier commitments, allocations, alternate sourcing, and approved premium freight to protect the production schedule.
- Maintain clear escalation pathways and decision timelines to enable rapid response to shortages or supplier disruptions.
Procurement & Purchasing Execution
- Oversee and execute full-cycle purchasing activities in support of manufacturing, including PO creation and revisions, confirmations, schedule alignment, shipment tracking, and stakeholder communication.
- Remove execution barriers quickly (e.g., goods receipt discrepancies, invoice issues, payment holds) to avoid supply interruptions.
- Ensure adherence to internal purchasing processes, maintaining audit readiness and disciplined, consistent execution.
Supplier Performance Management & Execution Governance
- Monitor and manage supplier delivery performance, responsiveness, and contractual compliance; drive corrective actions and recovery plans when performance gaps occur.
- Partner with Strategic Sourcing to provide operational input into negotiations (lead times, MOQs, flexibility, service levels) with a focus on supply continuity.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships while holding suppliers accountable to confirmed schedules and quality expectations.
Master Data & System Integrity
- Own purchasing-related master data accuracy, including vendor master records, planned delivery times, source lists, info records, pricing, MOQs, lot sizes, and lead times.
- Ensure timely system updates and prevent execution errors caused by inaccurate or outdated data.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce recurring issues and stabilize production support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
- 5–8 years of purchasing or procurement experience supporting manufacturing operations.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier management skills.
- Advance Excel proficiency, including XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
- Experience working with MRP/ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Ability to read technical drawings and BOMs preferred.
- Ability to prepare reports for commodity performance, cost analysis, and market insights.
- Understanding of Incoterms, logistics, and international trade preferred.
- Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Pay Range: $90,000 to $120,000
The pay range represents the low and high end of the anticipated pay range for this position based at our Woodinville, WA headquarters. The actual pay offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance, business objectives, and if the location for the job changes.
