About the Role
The Finance Manager, COGS is a key finance leader within our FP&A organization, reporting to the Senior Director of FP&A. This role owns cost of goods sold and inventory costing analysis across in-house and contract manufacturing operations. This position partners cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Revenue Finance, and Accounting to drive gross margin performance through standard cost optimization, variance analysis, tariff impact modeling, and cost improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identifying monetary resources; and developing action plans.
COGS & Variance Management
- Lead monthly COGS variance analysis, including material price, labor, overhead, and absorption variances
- Deliver actionable insights through trend reporting, root cause analysis, and forward-looking forecasts
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to identify and mitigate cost drivers
Tariff & Strategic Cost Modeling
- Quantify and model tariff impacts on COGS, landed costs, inventory valuation, and gross margin
- Partner with Supply Chain on scenario modeling, sourcing strategy, and make-vs-buy decisions
- Provide financial analysis to support cost mitigation and supplier negotiations
Gross Margin & Profitability Analysis
- Partner with Revenue Finance to analyze margin drivers by product, customer, and geography
- Prepare margin bridge and waterfall analyses to explain performance versus plan
- Support forecasting with accurate COGS projections and mix impact analysis
Fixed Cost & Capacity Analysis
- Analyze fixed cost leverage and overhead absorption across facilities and product lines
- Support capacity planning and capital investment decisions with financial modeling
FP&A Partnership & Reporting
- Support close processes with variance reporting and inventory analysis
- Prepare executive-level presentations on COGS trends, risks, and opportunities
- Ensure alignment between cost accounting and FP&A planning processes
Process Improvement & Systems
- Drive automation and continuous improvement in costing processes
- Enhance ERP and reporting capabilities to improve cost visibility and accuracy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in financial management, with a proven track record in financial planning and strategy and 3+ years of experience managing finance teams.
- Strong expertise in standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
- Experience supporting manufacturing and supply chain operations
- ERP experience (NetSuite, SAP, or similar)
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Working knowledge of GAAP related to inventory and COGS
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or professional certification, such as a CPA or CFA.
Pay Range: $130,000 to $155,000
The pay range represents the low and high end of the anticipated pay range for this position based at our Woodinville, WA headquarters. The actual pay offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance, business objectives, and if the location for the job changes.
