About the Role
The Quality Technician plays a key role in ensuring that materials, components, and finished parts meet Precor’s high standards of performance and reliability. In this hands-on role, you will perform detailed inspections of incoming materials and production-line parts, process and document non-conforming items, and complete first-article inspections for prototype builds or new supplier qualifications. You will support Quality Control investigations and maintain accurate records to ensure traceability and compliance. Success in this position requires strong mechanical aptitude, sound judgment, and the ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment. The Quality Technician works closely with teams across the organization, so clear communication, solid organizational skills, and confident use of computer-based data systems are essential. This position reports directly to the Quality Manager.
Responsibilities
· Inspect incoming production materials and internally manufactured parts to Precor drawings and specifications.
· Actively engage with operations personnel to identify production issues and assist in determining root causes.
· Process non-conforming materials and parts using established quality procedures.
· Communicate with suppliers regarding non-conforming parts, including issue documentation, return logistics, and follow-up.
· Input engineering and part data into standard databases and spreadsheets for tracking and analysis.
· Perform first article inspections for new incoming parts and new internal part qualifications.
· Maintain quality records required to monitor key performance indicators.
· Use and maintain calibration for a wide range of inspection and production tools, including precision measurement tools and electronic testers.
· Maintain the quality lab in accordance with 5S principles.
· Support the quality analytics team with data collection, organization, and analysis.
· Maintain MRB (Material Review Board) materials and non-conforming parts for return, sorting, removal, or inventory disposition.
Qualifications
· 3+ years of quality inspection experience required
· Proficiency in using and understanding mechanical inspection tools and gauges (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, 3D scanning CMMs, contact CMMs, bench centers, and similar tools).
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Solid math skills, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
· Proficiency with Windows-based computer programs and basic data entry.
· Basic understanding of reliability concepts for manufactured products.
