About the Role
The Receiving Specialist is a subject-matter expert responsible for leading accurate, efficient, and compliant receiving operations that directly support production and inventory integrity. This role provides advanced ownership of inbound materials processes including receiving, inspection, documentation, discrepancy resolution, and inventory system transactions.
The Receiving Specialist partners closely with internal stakeholders and serves as a knowledge resource for junior associates. This position plays a key role in driving continuous improvement, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring timely material flow within the distribution center.
This role requires experience in forklift operation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Shift: 6am – 3:30pm Monday-Thursday, 6am – 10am Friday
Responsibilities
Receiving & Inventory Accuracy
- Receive, unload, and stage incoming materials using advanced knowledge of warehouse flow and storage systems.
- Compare packing lists, purchase orders, and physical inventory to ensure accurate receiving transactions in ERP (SAP or similar).
- Conduct detailed inspections of incoming materials, quantities, and condition; isolate damaged or nonconforming goods.
- Investigate and resolve receiving variances by partnering with Purchasing, Planning, and Quality.
- Process complex receiving transactions, corrections, and adjustments with a high degree of accuracy.
Leadership & Support
- Serve as the primary receiving resource for associates, providing guidance and support on SOPs, transactions, and equipment use.
- Train new team members on receiving procedures, safety standards, and system workflows.
- Act as day-to-day lead for receiving activities, escalating operational issues as required.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Communicate shipment issues, delays, shortages, or quality concerns to internal stakeholders.
- Partner with Supply Chain to support audits, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive 5S and Kaizen initiatives within the receiving area; identify and implement workflow improvements.
- Recommend and support process enhancements that reduce waste, improve accuracy, and increase efficiency.
- Maintain and contribute to receiving KPIs (dock-to-stock time, accuracy %, damaged materials reporting).
General Warehouse Operations
- Safely operate forklifts, reach trucks, and material-handling equipment (expert-level certification preferred).
- Perform daily warehouse tasks, including replenishment, inventory movements, and maintaining organized storage locations.
- Uphold safety, housekeeping, and compliance standards within the receiving dock and surrounding areas.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of receiving, warehouse, or inventory control experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and RF scanners.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently resolve receiving discrepancies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor junior team members.
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs and operate material-handling equipment safely.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- High attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cycle count leadership or root-cause inventory analysis.
- Exposure to Lean principles, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies.
Working Environment
Work is performed indoors in a heated modern factory space. Ambient working temperature may range from 50 F – 90 F, depending on the season. The work area is clean and free from wet, slippery conditions. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and gloves. A respirator may be required if applicable.

- Ability to lift to 40 lbs.
- Ability to frequently (6-8 hrs.): talk and/or hear, see, stand, use hands, reach at or above the shoulder.
- Ability to routinely (4-6 hrs.): bend, do simple finger grasping, lift waist to shoulder.
- Ability to occasionally (2-4 hrs.): walk, lift floor to waist, reach above the shoulder, push, and pull using wheeled carts and bins.
- Ability to on a rare basis (0-2 hrs.): Sit, kneel, or crawl, stoop or squat, twist, use of feet (foot pedals), lifting shoulder to overhead, climb (small ladder) or balance.
Pay Range: $26.00 to $29.00/hour
The pay range represents the low and high end of the anticipated pay range for this position based at our Woodinville, WA headquarters. The actual pay offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance, business objectives, and if the location for the job changes.
