About the Role
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing electrical systems for Precor cardio products, managing suppliers of electrical subsystems, and ensuring compliance with Precor engineering standards for quality and performance. The incumbent should possess a comprehensive understanding of electronics design and embedded software, with sufficient expertise to specify, review, and validate these systems. This role also requires specialized knowledge in Precor’s core electrical competencies, including digital display systems, motors and motor controllers, power supplies, and electromagnetics.
Responsibilities
- Develop electrical system designs aligned with Precor’s design and engineering standards.
- Produce and specify designs optimized for cost efficiency, competitiveness, and reliability.
- Maintain relationships with key component manufacturers, leveraging their expertise to enhance Precor products.
- Translate engineering requirements into practical and fully realized designs.
- Plan, develop, and test components, equipment, and systems to ensure safety, dependability, and regulatory compliance.
- Apply lean engineering principles and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) concepts.
- Research high-value technologies and develop practical applications in collaboration with the R&D team.
- Develop test plans and perform tests on electrical circuitry, equipment, and systems.
- Communicate information effectively and objectively with leadership, staff, customers, and suppliers.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering their skills in design, analysis, and critical thinking.
- Pursue continuous improvement and operational efficiency to enhance customer and business value.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of engineering analysis, processes, testing tools, and technical documentation standards.
- Manage relationships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Original Design Manufacturers (ODM).
- Travel up to 10% (domestic and international) to meet customers and observe product use in the field.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk regularly, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
- 5+ years of product design or engineering experience with proven technical skills.
- Broad knowledge of electronics design and embedded software, with the ability to specify, review, and validate designs.
- Proficiency in using measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and power analyzers.
- Understanding of design evaluation techniques such as reliability analysis, statistical tolerance, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic and demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
- Experience in designing Android-based display systems.
- Expertise in Precor’s core competencies, including digital display systems, motors and motor controllers, power supplies, and electromagnetics.
- Working knowledge of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC (Near Field Communication), and EMI principles.
- Familiarity with radiated and conducted immunity standards (FCC and CE regulatory requirements).
- Understanding of business and management principles related to strategic planning, resource allocation, and project management.
- Experience with contract manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of UL 1647 and IEC 60335 standards is a plus.
Pay Range: $105,000 to $110,000
The pay range represents the low and high end of the anticipated pay range for this position based at our Woodinville, WA headquarters. The actual pay offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance, business objectives, and if the location for the job changes.
