Position Description for Community Liaison: SVP Tucson seeks a consultant to implement and sustain a Partner (annual donor/volunteer) expansion campaign to engage Tucson’s newest residents and retirees in local philanthropy and grow SVP Tucson’s network of renewing members. This campaign will include a variety of marketing tactics (in-person engagement with print and digital), collaboration with local businesses, and additional outreach tactics to engage incoming residents, newly retired, and other prospective partners. The consultant will work to establish connections, create a pipeline of new donors, develop strategies, and ensure that SVP Tucson’s staff can maintain and deepen these relationships long-term.

Compensation:

$5,000 a month, expectation of 20 hours a week. November 18, 2024 - March 31, 2025. Opportunities to extend the contract for 2 more years.

Goals/Success Metrics:

  • Successful recruitment of new SVP Partners, particularly Tucson’s new residents.
    • The campaign goals include meeting the following metrics: 30 new Partners in FY25, 35 in FY26, and 40 in FY27.
  • Growth in SVP Tucson’s renewing member base.
  • Increased local visibility and engagement with SVP Tucson’s philanthropic efforts.
  • Connect donors to Tucson’s most promising nonprofits.
  • Creating strategic alliances with businesses and memberships that might feed into SVP Tucson’s recruitment efforts.

Key responsibilities include:

Campaign Implementation

  • Lead efforts to engage new residents and retirees in Tucson by creating a multi-faceted campaign that includes in-person marketing strategies, one-on-one meetings, and print and digital materials designed to attract prospective Partners.

Community Engagement & Outreach

  • Foster relationships with local businesses, retirement communities, and community leaders to expand SVP Tucson’s presence and build strategic alliances that encourage philanthropic involvement. Collaborate with local businesses and organizations to build partnerships that enhance the campaign’s reach.
  • Conduct outreach to prospective Partners, especially incoming residents and newly retired, to educate and encourage them to join SVP Tucson.
  • Work with SVP Tucson’s leadership team to create systems, tools, and resources that will allow SVP staff to continue relationship-building efforts after the campaign’s conclusion.
  • Develop outreach initiatives that specifically target new residents in Tucson, retirees, introducing them to SVP Tucson’s mission and encouraging them to become active members of the philanthropic community.
  • Identify and open the doors to membership communities that would allow SVP Tucson to reach prospective Partners.

Relationship Building

  • Nurture relationships with current SVP Partners to encourage renewals and sustained involvement.
  • Initiate prospective Partners and steward relationships.
  • Lead the Partner Ambassador cohort to collect feedback, gain knowledge from their experience, and build leads.


Community Relations

  • Work with the Vice President of Strategic Relationships to build a three-year advertising campaign that reaches key demographics and targeted prospect Partners.
  • Review and analyze performance and shift campaigns when needed to ensure maximum exposure for each tactic. 
  • This role requires a consultant with strong skills in community engagement, marketing, and relationship-building, and the ability to implement campaigns that align with SVP Tucson’s mission and goals.

 

Recruitment Event Planning & Execution:

  • Work closely with the Development and Engagement Manager to ensure SVP Tucson hosts one recruitment social event each month.
  • Organize in-person events to facilitate engagement, networking, and awareness of SVP Tucson’s initiatives.
  • Recruit prospective Partners to events that lead to conversions.
  • Ensure timely and thorough follow-up, working closely with SVP Tucson’s staff to make sure all prospective Partners receive appropriate follow-up communication.
  • Provide regular progress updates, analyzing the effectiveness of outreach efforts and adjusting strategies to meet Partnership growth targets.
  • Work with SVP Tucson’s leadership team to create systems, tools, and resources that will allow SVP staff to continue relationship-building efforts after the campaign’s conclusion.
