Cal-Fresh Employment and Training (CFET) Coordinator

Downtown Streets Team strives to end homelessness by enabling

un-housed men and women to restore their dignity and rebuild their lives.

Team Members prepare for permanent employment and housing by

participating on work teams that serve their local communities. We are

seeking an independently focused, dedicated, and passionate CFET

Coordinator to join our Santa Cruz staff.


The Cal-Fresh Employment and Training program provides new

opportunities and increased incentives and support for those who are

homeless and seeking employment opportunities. Our partnership with the County of Santa Cruz Human Services Department on this project is meant to help our Team Members transition from our volunteer work experience

program into regular employment, and further to help them achieve other

self-sufficiency goals including housing, benefits, and access to resources

they need to get off the streets.


The goal of the CFET Coordinator is to create employment and housing

related opportunities for Team Members by developing connections to and partnerships with business owners, employers, landlords, property

managers, and others within the County of Santa Cruz. The CFET

coordinator will also maintain constant communication with representatives from the County of Santa Cruz about participants’ progress in the CFET

program as well as submit monthly reports. This position also includes

tasks related to outbound communication including managing our

newsletter, social media, and other communications that increase

awareness about Downtown Streets Team in Santa Cruz County.

·      Manage a case load of up to 25 individuals who are co-enrolled in

    Downtown Streets Team work experience program and Cal-Fresh

·      Work with each CFET Team Member individually to set and achieve self-sufficiency goals specifically related to employment, transportation,

    housing, and basic needs

·      Develop a network of employers, business professionals and property

    managers and landlords open to working with Team Members

·      Maintain regular appointments with Team Members

·      Work closely with Employment Specialist and Case Manager to provide a pathway to employment, housing, and self-sufficiency for participants

·      Work with Project Manager to promote successful participation in the

    work experience program

·      Stay up to date on and connected with current services outside the

    agency that may aid participants in their goals

·      Present new services and opportunities to entire Team at Weekly

    Success Team Meetings

·      Provide compassionate support and assistance for participants in crisis

·      Support participants in court, at housing related appointments, social

    service agencies, etc.

·      Utilize any available subsidies and affordable housing units to help 

     participants transition into housing

·      Attend all meetings relevant to participant care and organization goals

·      Accurately and promptly document all interactions (phone, meeting, etc.) with participants at all times

·      Establish productive relationships with each and every participant with no bias or prejudice towards race, religion, age, sex, disability, or sexual preference

·      Assist with special projects as required

·      Perform other duties as assigned by manager



·      A bachelor’s degree in the field of Social Sciences, English, or Public

   Affairs and Law preferred

·      Two years’ relevant experience

·      Proficiency in Spanish is a plus

·      Basic competence in duties and tasks of supervised employees

·      Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and

    scientific method

·      Ability to work with all levels of management

·      Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow

·      Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm

·      Proven leadership and business acumen skills

·      Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate subordinates

·      Commitment to excellence and high standards

·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·      Proficient in Microsoft programs

    mental abilities.  These abilities include, but are not limited to: sitting,

    standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 25

    lbs.), typing, writing (in English), reading (English), speaking (English),

    seeing, hearing, driving, basic mathematical calculations, problem

    solving, reasoning, composition, and decision-making.
